"It looks delicious."
“You want to eat everything!” Mochizuki Haruka sent another message.
"You're able to message me, so it seems you've broken up with Tomatsu?"
The boy ignored her malicious remark and said, "Yeah, I'll be home soon."
"It's so late," the girl continued. "Tomatsu Tomohana is shameless!"
It's unclear what she was thinking, but Jun Matsue smiled.
Fortunately, Mochizuki was never one to hide her feelings—if this pampered young lady had any emotions, she would definitely make a scene for him without hesitation.
"Why are you still showing your arms?" The boy glanced at the picture again. "It's going to get colder next week, remember to keep warm."
"Okay, there's underfloor heating in the house..." the girl sent a voice message, her voice slightly muffled as she chewed something.
"I'm not going back tonight. My aunt wants me to sleep with her."
"Scumbag Matsueda!" Mochizuki Kaname muttered under her breath, but Matsueda Jun pretended not to hear.
"Okay, see you tomorrow morning."
Putting down his phone, the door to room 507 was now in his way. The boy took out his key from his pocket—after pushing the door open, he was greeted by warm yellow lighting and the aroma of steaming food.
Closing the door to shut out the dry, cold air from outside, Jun Matsue bent down to change his shoes while looking up at the girl at the dining table.
The idol holding the soup bowl turned her head and looked at him with her bright, blinking eyes.
"Songzhi is back?"
"I'm back—" The boy stretched and walked towards the dining table.
"The dinner in Kurusu smelled delicious."
"It's udon soup!" Yosei Kurusu proudly held up the bowl.
"I added the leftover tofu, beef, shiitake mushrooms, and baby bok choy from the fridge, and it tasted amazing!"
"Would you like to try some pine branches?" She picked up a mouthful of noodles with beef on them.
“I have to try it.” Jun Matsue bent down without hesitation and accepted the girl’s offer to feed him.
The udon noodles, soaked in broth, were delicious, but when he looked up, Yosuke Kurusu had a stern face.
"Your face smells like girls!" Miss Idol frowned and pushed him aside with disdain.
"Go take a shower!"
The girl stood up and pushed the boy towards the bathroom, their slippers making a clattering sound.
Matsueda Jun did not resist, letting Kurusu push him through the glass door. The idol girl closed the sliding door, her figure disappearing into the frosted glass. After a while, she opened the door again and threw something in.
The boy reached out and took it; it was his underwear and long-sleeved shirt and pants for home wear.
"Hurry up and wash! You're not allowed to come out until you're all washed!" the girl said fiercely.
“Okay…” Jun Matsue turned on the tap and watched her figure walk away.
He and Kurusu were getting closer and closer, and feeding each other like they had just done had become a regular occurrence without them even realizing it.
After all, he had washed the girl's underwear and Kurusu could fetch him a change of clothes. It was just a little indirect kissing-like ambiguity, so there was really no need to make a fuss.
As the water from the showerhead gradually warmed up, Jun Matsue took off his clothes and, before showering, turned his head to sniff the scent around his neck.
Is it that obvious?
After his intimate moment with Tomatsu, he naturally took a shower, but he would definitely have some contact with the girl again during dinner.
"..."
Warm steam rose upwards, and Jun Matsue stood under the flowing water, once again relaxing his mind as the warm current surged forth.
Even as he grew closer to Kurusu, he remained clear that neither of them had taken the final step.
The idol's physical contact was just a light touch, offering some perfunctory benefits—the girl was aware of this and, while adhering to the boundaries, she didn't forget to criticize his philandering behavior.
However, Kurusu's attitude has clearly begun to change.
Jun Matsue opened his eyes and looked up at the misty ceiling.
Perhaps it's because of "Happy End," or perhaps it's because of the stalemate between Tomatsu and Mochizuki—in any case, his romantic battle with the idol should soon reach its decisive moment.
"Pine branch——"
A bright, sweet voice rang out from outside the door, interrupting the boy's thoughts. He turned his head and looked at the shadow outside the glass door.
"what happened?"
“There was a bit too much udon noodles cooked for dinner—” Yosei Kurusu, who was outside the door, seemed to be rubbing his stomach.
What about the rest?
"I'll take care of it." Jun Matsueda quickened his shower.
"What? Give it to Songzhi?" The girl's tone was not surprised.
"But you've already had dinner, haven't you?"
"It's okay." He turned off the tap tightly, making sure his voice could be heard clearly outside the door.
"Anyway, I have a big appetite, and I can finish any amount of food."
Chapter 787 Monday's Set Visit
The next day was Monday.
There's still one week until the release of "Happy End".
"Yuhua, do you want to go check out the actual filming location?"
During lunch, Jun Matsueda suddenly asked this question.
"Huh?"
Tomatsu Yuka, who was sitting to the side, blinked and swallowed the soup he fed her.
The boy and girl were in the cafeteria, surrounded by students eating lunch.
"Why did Chun-jun suddenly ask this?" She put down her chopsticks, indicating that she was full.
"Today is the day that Imokawa and the others start filming their music video." Jun Matsueda picked up a tissue and carefully wiped her mouth.
"Hmm..." Tomatsu Yuka glanced at the wind swaying the treetops outside the window, snapping herself out of her reverie.
"Is it for Yang Shisang's music video?" she asked cautiously in a low voice, making sure only the boy next to her could hear.
"Yes, today is the first day of work. After school this afternoon, Mochizuki and I will go to visit the set." Jun Matsue glanced at his phone.
"Because it's quite a novel thing, it should be very different from the student production team of 'White Line Flow' back then, I think Yuka might be interested in it too."
"Hmm... I'd say I'm somewhat interested," the girl thought for a moment.
"But I feel like it would be a little awkward if I went?"
"There's nothing awkward about it, right?" the boy said, clearing away his plates. "There must be other members of the film crew here too."
"It's not because of that," Tomatsu Yuka waved her hand and took a plate from him.
The two walked through the noisy dining area like two swans skimming over a flock of chickens.
"Mainly because Mochizuki's family has connections with Yosei-san's company, and Tsunku is also quite familiar with Imokawa-san and the others. If I go, it would be like—"
The girl walked out of the cafeteria, turned around and beckoned to the boy with her finger, making a "quotation mark" gesture.
"That feeling of 'Why did this guy come?'"
"It doesn't have to be that bad, does it?" Jun Matsueda chuckled. "It's not like it's a friends' party, who would care about that?"
However, it seems that yesterday's chat with Tomatsu was very effective—the girl seemed much more relaxed.
"Let's forget about it," Tomatsu Yuka said, taking his arm.
"I just want to go out with Tsunku. Since it's not a date for the two of us, I feel like there's no point in going."
"Didn't we just have a full-day date?" the boy said, taking out his phone to text Mochizuki Haruka.
"You can never have too many dates," the girl replied with a smile.
"But I'm really looking forward to Yang Shisang's new song."
After all, it was written by Chunjun, she added in her mind.
“A new song…” Jun Matsueda put away his phone. “After it’s released, I’ll find a karaoke bar next time we go shopping and sing it for you.”
“I was quite confident when I sang it before—after all, it was a song I wrote myself.”
"But now I feel that Kurusu's version is probably better."
He then thought of the idol in the recording studio—that gentle yet sorrowful voice, unforgettable after just one listen.
"How could that be!" Tomatsu Yuka shook the boy's arm.
"Tsunku definitely sings it better!"
"You've never heard of it..."
"That was Tsunku's best singing..."
The boy and girl walked away on the main road, their figures gradually shrinking as they pressed close together in the wind and disappeared into the school building.
As the sunlight gradually bathed the campus in a golden glow and the school bell rang, the girl walking beside Matsueda Jun naturally changed—
Mochizuki Haruka maintained her indifferent demeanor, walking out of the school gate without glancing to the side, keeping a distance from those around her that was neither intimate nor affectionate.
Only after the two got into the car parked not far away did the girl lazily cover her mouth and yawn, then sit directly in the boy's lap.
"Where are Kurusu and the others now?"
"Let me ask you something." Jun Matsue leaned back in his seat so that Mochizuki could snuggle comfortably in his arms.
He took out his phone and sent a message to Yosuke Kurusu, but the reply he received was somewhat ambiguous.
I don't know either~
"...What do you mean by not knowing?" The boy blinked at his phone screen.
"What's wrong?" The young lady sitting on his lap turned her head. "Is something going on with her?"
"Wait a minute." Idol Girl called, and Jun Matsueda put the phone to his ear.
"Kurusu?"
"...You weren't there?"
"Okay, I understand. So where are Imokawa and the others?"
Hearing the bright, girlish voice coming from the phone receiver so close to her ear, Mochizuki Haruka frowned and got up to sit down to the side.
The boy quickly hung up the phone and gave the address to the driver/maid who was patiently waiting in the driver's seat.
The car started moving, and the girl next to him leaned on his shoulder again, using the act of touching him to ease her impatience.
"What was she just babbling to you about?"
“Kurasu isn’t here.” Jun Matsueda put the two of their bags aside. “We don’t need her for the time being with Imagawa.”
Mochizuki Haruka raised an eyebrow. "Isn't this for her music video? She doesn't need to appear in it?"
"I don't know either." The boy looked at his phone—he had sent a message to Imokawa, but the girl was probably filming and hadn't replied yet.
"We'll know when we get there."
"Hmph—" The young lady of the Mochizuki family made a nasal sound like a pet, glancing at the yellowish light outside the window.
"This is so troublesome..." She leaned her head back against the boy's body. "Why can't we go home right after school?"
"Didn't Mochizuki come along on her own?" Jun Matsue held a strand of the girl's black hair in his hand and played with it.
"How about I take you home first?"
"No!" Mochizuki Haruka turned around and glared at him.
"Even if Kurusu isn't here, Imokawa still likes you, doesn't he? I haven't forgotten him!"
Although the girl adhered to the principle of "out of sight, out of mind," she was still somewhat uneasy about letting Matsue go to find Kurusu Yosei and Imokawa Natsumi.
