Chapter 1 Princess Starting from Zero: CapterZERO Prologue
What you will see next is the abdication edict of Karl I, the last emperor of Austria-Hungary. As the last monarch of the Habsburg family and also the monarch who ascended the throne during World War I, he was different from his great-uncle, the former emperor Franz.
He was a peace-loving ruler and, after ascending to the throne, repeatedly attempted secret talks with the Allied powers in an effort to expedite Austria-Hungary's withdrawal from World War I. However, his refusal to cede any Habsburg territory to Italy rendered these behind-the-scenes efforts utterly futile. Furthermore, his support for France's demands for Alsace and Lorraine severely damaged his reputation both in Germany and in Austria-Hungary when these efforts were exposed, plunging the empire into dire straits and ultimately leading to the dangerous situation of internal strife and the open conflict between ethnic groups within Austria-Hungary.
Finally, on October 14, 1918, the last emperor of the empire, Charles I, convened the Royal Council and accepted the Fourteen Points proposed by then-President Wilson of the United States as an armistice agreement, agreeing to establish a federal state with autonomous governments of various nationalities.
However, the reforms quickly spiraled out of control, with various national autonomous governments declaring full independence and withdrawing from World War I. The republicans within Austria ultimately gained power and directly rejected the monarchy, marking the complete end of Habsburg rule on the European continent.
"What a pity..." While listening to the tour guide's explanation, a young man pressed the shutter button to record the documents he saw in the museum that day.
His name is Lin Wei. This is his second year studying at the University of Vienna. As one of the most dazzling historical cities in Europe, it has witnessed too many ups and downs in history and is closely linked to a surname - Habsburg.
Of course, those in China who are familiar with this surname prefer to call them "Lower Body Castle," the first royal family in Europe that built its legend through political marriage.
The family history dates back to 1273 AD, when Rudolf I was elected Holy Roman Emperor. From that time onward, fortune seemed to have never forgotten this most favored child of hers. Germany, Austria, Hungary, Northern Italy, Naples, Spain's vast overseas colonies, Bohemia, the Netherlands, and many other lands were all once under the Habsburg family's rule. In 1506, Charles V, the family's heir, single-handedly dominated Europe, becoming the undisputed first family in European history.
The family had experienced both glory and shame. The defeat in the Thirty Years' War resulted in the loss of vast territories and control over the princes within the empire. Napoleon's rise further forced the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, which had existed for nearly 900 years. They had weathered the French Revolution of 1848, witnessed the rise of Prussia, Bismarck's political maneuvering, and Moltke's shrewdness, but even so, the empire never truly collapsed.
Unfortunately, the empire built by such a family did not survive the First World War, in which countless crowns fell. At this moment, Lin Wei could almost imagine the lonely emperor sitting on the throne in Schönbrunn Palace.
His most loyal servants had long since been dismissed by the newly formed republic's parliament, and he himself would soon be exiled from the country that had once belonged to him. He gazed helplessly at the neglected gardens outside the window and sighed. He shouldn't have been the emperor; his uncle was the true heir to the throne.
Unfortunately, he died in Sarajevo, the place where all this conflict originated.
“Ambition buried everything; he is not worthy of sympathy.” As a Chinese, Lin Wei had no reason to resonate with a former monarch of a distant country, because there could be no possible connection between the two.
"Shouldn't it all end here?" Just as Lin Wei was lost in thought, a peaceful voice suddenly entered his mind, and the scene before him was brought closer to him, as if the distant fantasy had become reality.
"Where is this?" Lin Wei frowned slightly and widened his eyes, because he found that the last emperor he had imagined was sitting on his throne, looking at him.
"Do you also think that everything should end here?" Karl, who had just turned thirty, let out a sigh that was not appropriate for someone his age.
What made Lin Wei even more puzzled was that the other party actually used a respectful term of address towards him.
"What's wrong with ending it? Since you've missed so many opportunities, you only have yourself to blame for getting to this point. I don't sympathize with your country..." Lin Wei raised an eyebrow and looked at the young emperor in front of him. For some reason, he suddenly felt a sense of closeness and sympathy for the young man. Logically, he shouldn't have such feelings.
"Your Majesty! The carriage for departure is ready; it's time for us to leave." Just as Lin Wei was trying to organize his thoughts and express his views in a more tactful way, an old butler in a black suit walked over, bowing as he reminded the young man before him.
"You said that if Grandma Elizabeth were still alive, would she have stopped His Majesty Franz from starting the war? If she could have stopped it, would the Empire still exist?" Karl seemed to be speaking to the old butler, but Lin Wei knew he was actually speaking to him.
“If it’s her, then she can definitely stop the old emperor from launching a war.” The old steward spoke calmly, trying his best to maintain the last vestige of dignity for his master as a servant.
“That’s right! Your Majesty, it will definitely happen. The empire will be stronger than ever before.” The old man looked at the young emperor, took a deep breath, and said. Although he had no choice, he couldn’t help but tell a lie.
“No! I know that whether the empire participates in this war or not, it will not avoid its demise.” Karl straightened up and stroked the armrest of the throne, as if he were giving his throne a final farewell in an ancient ritual.
"The empire's problems lie not outside, but within this palace; not on the bayonets of the Allied powers, but in our very bones. Some things we only understand after we lose them." The young man held his head high, his eyes burning with a fire. Perhaps he was more clear-headed and wiser than any Habsburg monarch before him.
"Let's go! This place no longer belongs to us." The young man took a step forward, turned back for one last look at the throne, then looked at Lin Wei standing there, and spoke in his most peaceful tone:
"Aunt, if you were us, could you save this country? You certainly could..."
"Aunt?" Lin Wei frowned at this strange address.
"Your Majesty? Who are you talking to?" The old steward looked at the young man with some concern, fearing that the blow he was about to suffer a mental breakdown. After all, for someone like him who had served the head of the Habsburg family for generations, the health of the young man in front of him determined his future.
"No, it's nothing. I was just talking to myself. You can just call me Karl from now on. There are no emperors anymore."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The young man didn't say much about the steward's behavior. He turned around somewhat unsteadily and walked forward. The setting sun shone through the clear glass window and shone on the last emperor, who at this moment looked like a dark charcoal sculpture.
As for Lin Wei, he was gradually pulled back to reality by the strange scene.

Chapter 2 The Princess Starting from Zero: Capter 1 The Princess Born in Vienna (Seeking Votes)
"Your Highness! It's time to get up." A gentle and incredibly elegant female voice reached the young man's ears as he swayed.
Lin Wei first felt a tremor from the depths of his soul, and a heartbeat and palpitation that felt like being alive...
As he gasped for breath, a wonderful substance called air filled his lungs, while his consciousness remained fixed on the high-end car speeding towards him, its incredibly beautiful angel emblem clearly indicating its exorbitant price.
Then, as the front of the car got closer and closer... closer and closer... until it made intimate contact with him, Lin Wei truly realized that his life was in danger...
Yes, he was in a car accident, and it happened in a foreign country. He was hit by a luxury car and his body was thrown around. As his consciousness gradually faded, he eventually fell into darkness and chaos.
The flashbacks of his previous life came one after another. As an ordinary person from a family of average means, he won a spot as an exchange student to study in Vienna thanks to his excellent grades. He didn't have any grand ambitions. He just hoped that after working for a few years, he could save up some money and live a peaceful life. Long-term goals were naturally irrelevant to him. Now, he just wanted to wait until he returned to China to propose to his childhood sweetheart, then get married, have children, and become a filial and good young man who takes care of his parents.
Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned, but it's alright now. At least we're still alive and well, and as long as we're breathing, we're not going to die any further.
As Lin Wei muttered to himself, he tried to raise his right hand to find the phone that should have been on his bedside table, but unfortunately, the sensation from his fingertips felt slightly off.
Why does my bedside table feel so high-quality? And the nurse's voice is just too sweet... Thinking of this, Lin Wei opened his eyes and slowly sat up in bed, trying to open his blurry eyes and make out his surroundings, trying to find something familiar to him.
IV drips, ventilators, pacemakers, doctors and nurses surrounding him in circles...
As his vision gradually cleared, the first thing Lin Wei saw was a woman with short silver-gray hair and wine-red eyes. She wore a white headdress and a long dress with black and white lace trim. If he had to describe it in one sentence, it would be a standard "maid outfit." However, unlike the more sensual outfits of later generations, the maid in front of him was more like a true lady, with every gesture exuding good manners.
What made Lin Wei feel even more familiar was that the other person's beautiful face, which he could recognize even if burned to ashes, was almost 80% similar to Rita Losweiser, a once-popular but somewhat sleazy maid from an old mobile game. If there was any difference, Lin Wei could only sigh that firstly, the other person did not have a weapon called a scythe; secondly, that was a two-dimensional world while this was real life; and thirdly, the outfit of this "Ms. Rita" in front of him was obviously not as bold and charming as the one in the game.
"Is this some kind of performance art, or high-end cosplay popular abroad?" Lin Wei had read in the news that the girlfriend of a certain rich man surnamed Ma had a hobby of cosplay, so it wasn't surprising. But this was a hospital!
Even so, Lin Wei admitted that the maid in front of him was very beautiful, but he would not keep his eyes on her. Instead, he took a look at his surroundings again.
The room was enormous, with its exquisite red floral curtains, white oak bed, and an intricately decorated chandelier and beautiful wall decorations. Lin Wei had visited museums and Schönbrunn Palace before and knew that this was the famous Baroque style of decoration.
"Ah...this..." The overly luxurious and retro decor, along with the absence of medical equipment, seemed to be telling Lin Wei that this was all just a dream, and he hadn't truly woken up. Without the slightest hesitation, he decisively threw himself back onto the bed, praying that he wouldn't be unable to return to reality.
"Your Highness! You're really being willful! His Majesty specifically instructed that today is your first day at school, and you should set a good example." Looking at Lin Wei, who had buried his face in the bed, the maid wasn't angry at all. Instead, she exuded a sense of composure, as if she had everything under control. Seeing Lin Wei continue to snore, she decisively grabbed the blankets and effortlessly yanked them off.
It was early spring, and as a cool breeze slipped into the quilt, Lin Wei instinctively shuddered and then let out a very pleasant "Ah-chu" sound.
Lin Wei opened his eyes again and said in a somewhat displeased tone, "Stop arguing! I know I'm still dreaming!" Lin Wei waved his hand while complaining, not wanting to pay any more attention to the maid in front of him.
"Fine, I'll get up anyway, I can't sleep!" Lin Wei reluctantly sat up, his consciousness and senses finally starting to function. Why do I feel a little dizzy? My body shouldn't be this weak; this is clearly low blood sugar.
Wait a minute, something's not right with my voice. Lin Wei deliberately made two "uh-huh" sounds, trying to test his vocal cords.
What's wrong with my voice? It sounds kind of nice, like a girl's. Lin Wei stretched out his right hand and tried to speak while pinching his Adam's apple, just to test it again.
The prominent Adam's apple that once stood out is now nowhere to be seen, replaced by an incredibly smooth neck.
"Strange?" Lin Wei couldn't help but sigh softly.
Why does my chest feel slightly raised and heavy? Lin Wei lowered her head and looked at her bulging chest. Even through a white lace nightgown, she could still vaguely see the "restraint" and the nightgown.
"Huh!?" Lin Wei was so surprised that he stammered. He first looked up at the smiling maid, then looked down again and focused his attention on the two mounds in front of his chest.
He swallowed hard, then used his right hand to apply a little force to one of his soft mounds. A strange feeling washed over him, and Lin Wei couldn't help but let out a low moan that even he found embarrassing.
"No! This must be a dream, this can't be real." Although he had fantasized about girls' beautiful bodies countless times, he had never considered the fact that the body belonged to him.
"Oh right, there's one more thing we need to confirm." Thinking of this, Lin Wei became uneasy. He didn't want to become that kind of genderless, neither-male-nor-female third gender. Although political correctness has become popular in Western countries in recent years, Austria should still be considered a normal country. Otherwise, he might as well be dead.
With a mix of trepidation and excitement, Lin Wei reached out towards the direction where he had once been able to support a piece of the world every day. He traversed undulating terrain and flat plains, following the sparse grassland, until he finally arrived at a ravine! A ravine! Lin Wei was so excited he wanted to shout!
No way! You must be joking.
One of the body parts that used to be with me day and night is gone, but I gained two more...
"*……%" The beautiful Chinese words came out of Lin Wei's mouth. This was Lin Wei's first greeting to this world, and he was obviously full of love and gratitude for this world.
PS1: That's it! 0v0!
Chapter 3 Princess Starting from Zero: My Princess is a Little Strange (Seeking Votes)
"Your Highness, what exactly happened to you today..." Although the maid appeared calm, she was still somewhat worried about her master's behavior this morning.
After all, you are surprised to find that when you serve the prince who is with you day and night to get up one morning as usual, it should be a pleasant thing, after all, your prince has an incomparably noble status.
You discover that the prince you've been protecting has suddenly changed drastically, not only speaking in languages you can't understand but also doing things you can't comprehend. What would you think? You'd most likely be worried about her unusual behavior, right? In the event of such a major incident, would His Majesty be the first to know?
Of course, if the maid were just an ordinary maid, then the necessary actions would have already been taken. Unfortunately, our maid doesn't seem to be in a hurry. Not only is she not in a hurry, but she continues to greet Lin Wei with a smile, which makes Lin Wei feel a little guilty.
"Excuse me... could you tell me what day it is today?" Lin Wei wanted to politely apologize, but considering that the girl in front of him addressed him as "Your Highness," being too polite might make her suspicious. Asking in this way seemed the most normal thing to do.
"Your Highness, the calendar is on your bedside table." The maid pointed to the calendar.
"Cough! Cough!" Lin Wei then noticed that the calendar was on his bedside table, and the pages with dates were facing him. The embarrassment was self-evident. However, as a master of facial expression management, Lin Wei did not waver. Instead, he turned his head and picked up the calendar in front of him, carefully scanning the information on it. Today is March 10, 1868. That's right, it is modern times, 156 years away from his own era.
So if I'm not dreaming, then I've undoubtedly time-traveled, and it's the kind of soul-travel that's the most troublesome kind. Not only do I have to face an unfamiliar environment, but I also need to play my original self well so that the people around me won't suspect me.
You asked why Lin Wei was so calm? Because would shouting and yelling do any good now? He didn't want to be resented by the original's family and parents because of the core replacement. Just thinking about being pushed onto the operating table to do all sorts of neurological experiments made his scalp tingle. Compared to that, he should think about the current situation.
Returning to the familiar realm of history, March 1868 was an unremarkable year. Unsurprisingly, there were no major events that would be recorded in history. At most, a small island nation to the east of China had started the Meiji Restoration a little over a month earlier, embarking on a "peculiar" path of prosperity and independence. Naturally, Lin Wei had no goodwill towards this country whatsoever.
Since the maid in front of me calls me Your Highness, I must have an extraordinary status. So, if I were to interfere, such as causing some trouble, what unpredictable accidents might happen to that tiny island nation in the East?
Of course, these things are still a long way off. After all, we don't even know who we are yet, so how can we talk about changing history?
"Hmm!" Lin Wei didn't know the maid's name, so he used a linguistic habit: he looked at the maid and pretended to be deep in thought, as if he had really forgotten what he wanted to say. He deliberately opened his mouth and made a gesture as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
"Your Highness, is there anything you need?" The maid bowed slightly to Lin Wei, her every move exuding elegance and composure.
"I suddenly thought of something. Do you remember my full name?" Lin Wei blinked his eyes innocently, looking at the woman in front of him who resembled the maid. He felt a little uneasy and nervous, after all, he had no idea about her character or how she treated him.
"Your Highness, you really know how to joke. It's understandable if an ordinary servant doesn't know your full name, but I am your personal maid." The woman emphasized the words "personal maid" in her voice.
"Your name is Gisela Loise Marie, daughter of the great Emperor Franz and the beautiful Empress Elizabeth, a member of the noble Habsburg family, and the future great Archduchess of Austria-Hungary." Even this woman, who usually maintained a poker face, showed a hint of pride in her eyes when her mistress's identity was mentioned.
This is because it means that the young prince he serves is a member of the most prestigious royal family in all of Europe.
The Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Habsburg family, a legend of expansion through their lower bodies. The family's ancestors had too many legendary experiences, just like that famous motto: "Let others fight, you! Happy Austria, go get married! What Mars gives to others, Venus gives to you."
Now the question arises: 1868 was no good year. It might not have mattered much for other European countries, but for Lin Wei—no! She should now be called Princess Gisela—everyone knew that this empire, with its extremely unstable foundation and this weak power built on the powder keg of the Balkans, was already on its deathbed.
The empire faced internal ethnic problems, the biggest variable hindering its development and prosperity. Externally, it faced the covetousness of the ambitious Russian Empire, the protector of the Slavic people. This bear, dominating the north, kept a close eye on the empire's Balkan region, and its proxy, Serbia, was already prepared to take a big bite out of the empire's weakened body.
In short, the empire's predicament can be summarized in one sentence: the Austro-Hungarian Empire is probably doomed. It might even disintegrate before it dies. According to the timeline, it might even face World War I, although it will be an old man (or woman) by then. The future is indeed bleak.
"Is Your Highness feeling unwell today? If you are really not feeling well, then I will have to ask the school to help you request leave." Seeing the girl sitting on the bed in a daze, the maid asked her mistress politely out of concern.
In her opinion, the princess was still young, and her strange reaction just now might have been a willful act by her to avoid going to school, after all, she was only 12 years old this year.
