Chapter 145, Section 42: Brothers Fighting Tigers
Clearly, no one wanted to pay attention to William's incessant slapping. The only response was the clanging sound of a blade being drawn. The blade sliced through the snowy night, reflecting a white light. As it slashed into the room in an arc, it was like a thunderbolt, instantly dispelling the darkness of the entire room.
William raised his sleeve sword to parry, but the seemingly indestructible weapon that had pried open the Batmobile's hood was actually cleaved in two, leaving a triangular notch.
But at least it blocked it.
William thrust his hidden blade at the blurry figure in the darkness, but the opponent did not rush to attack. As he sheathed his blade, he vanished silently like a drop of ink disappearing into the night.
Claw's counterattack missed, but that wasn't the most fatal thing. Don't forget that Jason was watching him intently from behind.
Seeing that William dared to look at him with the back of his head, Jason raised his stick without hesitation and chopped it down hard.
If his pistol hadn't been knocked away, he could have blown the other man's head off.
Even so, William was still in bad shape. Half of his skull was smashed to pieces by a blow, and his skull was completely sunken in, looking like an egg whose shell had been crushed. Blood, like egg white, gushed out from the hole.
Since the great battle between the Owls and the League of Assassins twenty years ago, William Cobb has once again suffered at the hands of his peers.
Knowing he couldn't stay in the house any longer, he stabbed Jason away with his sword and didn't dare go to the hall. Instead, he covered the back of his head, which was oozing cerebrospinal fluid, and ran upstairs.
Jason, of course, wouldn't let the other man get away. He turned around, grabbed the dropped pistol, and followed closely behind.
The lights were on in the bedroom on the second floor. An elderly couple huddled in a corner, trembling with fear, holding hunting rifles. William had barely peeked out from around the corner when he was shot.
Oh shit!
After cursing under his breath, William broke through the second-floor window and jumped out.
After suffering a head injury, his balance and reaction time were greatly reduced. Both of his opponents were extremely difficult to deal with. What was even more deadly was that the newcomer was not only a member of the League of Assassins, but might even have his blood flowing through his veins.
This made it difficult for William to act.
His injuries healed within seconds, but for various reasons, he was already considering quitting.
Of course, this doesn't mean the Court of Owls will let Jason and his gang off the hook; William isn't the only one with the claws out there.
Jason saw a shocking scene through the window.
William Cobb was surrounded by three men dressed similarly to him.
As if sensing Jason's gaze, the four claws, like manipulated puppets, all looked toward the third-floor window.
The moment their eyes met, Jason felt his soul freeze in the chill emanating from her.
At that moment, a hand landed on his shoulder.
"Mr. Todd—"
If it weren't for the familiar voice calling out, Jason would have almost hit him with the stick.
"Dick?! Was that you just now?!"
Jason's tone was a mixture of surprise and delight, but he quickly realized that now was not the time for small talk, and his voice, which had just risen, dropped.
"We're in big trouble. There's more than one assassin. If each one is as difficult as the last one, we're probably going to be stuck here today."
As he spoke, Jason glanced downstairs again and saw three claws scatter and disappear into the snowstorm. Immediately afterward, the sound of rapid footsteps echoed from the rooftop.
Dick then gave him a brief introduction to the enemy.
"They are called Claws. The metal they possess called 'Amber Gold' is the source of their power. My master said that as long as we can find the location where the metal is hidden and dig it out, we can defeat them. Of course, this is quite difficult. But don't worry, when I contacted Mr. Wei earlier, he was already on his way here. He asked me to come and provide support while he prepares some things that can be used in the battle."
Dick and Jason exchanged glances, drew their weapons, and stood back to back, ready for battle.
The confined space inside the room effectively limits the throwing knives from the claws, while the relatively fixed terrain makes it difficult for opponents to launch attacks from the shadows.
Jason had high hopes, but reality often surprises people.
The first claw burst out from the broken wall, the second blasted open the floor, and the third swung down from the roof on a rope. Those who broke in through the window were all guys who didn't like taking the stairs.
The three men attacked the two brothers from different directions almost simultaneously, instantly disrupting their formation.
Jason parried the hidden blade with his extendable staff. The good news is that not every Claw has William's freakish skills. For example, Jason's current opponent, this graceful Claw lady, is slightly faster than him, but much weaker. She didn't gain any advantage with her slash and was instead pushed back several steps by Jason's monstrous strength.
The bad news is that Jason can't take down his opponent anytime soon, and Dick is surrounded by two claws.
These guys seem to know exactly how to deal with the League of Assassins. Hidden blades are ineffective against soft armor, so they'll use their fists and feet.
Two sharp claws, one punching the top lane and the other attacking the bottom lane, in the blink of an eye, Dick was beaten so badly that he was stumbling and unable to stand steadily.
"Dick, take over!"
Jason noticed his companion's predicament and ran towards him, shouting.
As a result, his back was slashed open by the claws. The claws' hidden blades were incredibly sharp; ordinary bulletproof vests were no match for them.
"Damn it! I should have worn a stab-proof vest to deal with this kind of guy!"
Jason, in pain, cursed angrily.
Dick understood immediately, and despite the punches and kicks, he threw two darts and leaped sideways through the two claws.
The two ran towards each other, and as they passed each other, they didn't forget to give each other a high five.
Snapped!
Just as the two claws were about to turn around and give chase, they were met with Jason's furious punch.
"Get back to the morgue, all of you!!!!"
A cannonball-like fist slammed into his face, a loud cracking sound echoing inside his skull. Before losing consciousness, the Claw remembered William's warning, "Be careful of that guy in the red hood's fists."
At first, he didn't take it seriously, relying on his self-healing ability and not daring to take the fists of ordinary humans seriously.
Thus, he became the second person after William to suffer.
Like a baseball thrown with all its might by a pitcher, the sharp claws of the bewildered face hidden behind the mask were punched away, crashing into the concrete wall and leaving a blooming flower of blood.
Taking advantage of their momentary carelessness to temporarily cripple one of the Claws, the situation began to tilt in the brothers' favor.
Now that he had a new opponent, Dick had the upper hand. In order not to accidentally hurt Jason, the boy pulled out two Eskrima short sticks from behind his back and began to wield Filipino stick fighting techniques.
Amidst the clanging sparks, the female claw was cornered. Although she tried her best to block, the heavy metal rod was clearly beyond the reach of the hidden blade, and her wrist was soon shaking uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, Jason is also pressing forward, currently facing a large, claw-like opponent.
Both sides employed close-quarters combat techniques, making the battle exceptionally dangerous.
