Chapter 6 The Roar of the Giant Beast
Chapter 6 The Roar of the Giant Beast
The sky in the oil painting is a dark blue mixed with the color of flames. A single giant tree stands there, its withered branches extending in all directions, weaving a dense net to support the cracked sky.
The wasteland was littered with withered bones, and a black dragon rose from the depths of the skeletal remains, its wings covered with skulls. After spreading its enormous membranous wings, it thrust black flames skyward.
A mournful roar echoed in Su An's head; he actually felt as if he could hear the beast's howl.
"This dragon doesn't seem to be dead. Dragon slaying? I'd love to try."
Gojo Satoru, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly laughed, a very aggressive laugh.
Su An turned to look and was immediately startled.
Gojo Satoru slowly pulled off his blindfold, facing the black dragon in the oil painting. His azure eyes were revealed, and the excitement and fighting spirit within them almost solidified.
His carefree demeanor had changed, becoming sharp and even arrogant. He curled his lips into a sneer, like a tiger that had dominated the forest for too long and was now eagerly showing its claws when it finally spotted a valuable prey.
Su An couldn't help but swallow hard. If the black dragon in the oil painting was a mighty emperor who shook the world, then Gojo Satoru at this moment was an arrogant and lawless demon king. Su An couldn't help but think of a saying—"Above and below heaven, I alone am supreme."
Gojo Satoru turned his head as if sensing something, his blue eyes fixed on Su An:
"If you master the power of limitless limits, you too can kill Him."
"Huh? Me?"
"Yes, I'm just an illusion, but you reside in reality. Only you can kill him." Gojo Satoru's tone was extremely excited. He couldn't suppress his smile at the thought of Su An using his power to fight that black dragon. What an interesting and exciting battle that would be!
Gojo Satoru's laughter sent chills down Su An's spine. Su An turned to Angers, stroking the black dragon in the painting, and asked, "Nidhogg, what exactly is that?"
Angers softly recounted, "He is the most powerful and majestic dragon in the world, or more precisely, the dragon king Nidhogg. According to the Old Edda, a book of Norse mythology, at Ragnarok, it will bite off the roots of the World Tree, Yggdrasil. On that day, the world will be destroyed."
"Has the history of dragon slaying lasted a very long time?"
"In places you don't know, this has been going on for thousands of years. Humanity has written one history without dragons, but in another history, dragons appear in every line. But this secret is too astonishing, and the consequences if it were to be leaked are unpredictable."
Therefore, the families we call "Bloodline" have shared this secret for thousands of years and bore the mission of slaying dragons. They have continuously cultivated descendants skilled in killing, warfare, the power of words, and alchemy, sending them to the battlefield time and again to confront dragons and bury their resurgence. To this day, Kassel College has inherited their legacy.
Su An and Gojo Satoru exchanged a glance after hearing this.
"Dragon slaying and sorcerers sound pretty similar, don't they? If it were this world of Jason, would things not be like this..." Gojo Satoru didn't finish his sentence, his eyes dimming slightly. "Why did the dragon slaying families in this world disappear? The old fogies of the sorcerer world are living such comfortable lives."
Su An asked Gojo Satoru's question: "Mr. Angers, have those dragon-slaying families disappeared?"
“Yes, historically, dragon-slaying families were enormous, and most have since perished. In this new era, we can no longer rely on family traditions; we must introduce modern educational mechanisms.” Angers extended his hand to Suan. “Welcome to Kassel College, Suan!”
"How do you manage to fight such a powerful dragon?"
"First, a reckless madman. Second, invaluable knowledge."
Angers' expression was stern as he opened the library section of the admissions brochure.
"Dragon Genealogy, Dragons and Words of Power, The Key of Solomon, The Theory of Dragon Bloodlines, Dragon Genetics... These are the culmination of our thousands of years of accumulation, countless generations searching for and studying dragons. Kassel College is the culmination of all of them."
At Kassel College, you can choose from different disciplines such as Alchemy Engineering, Magical Mechanical Design, and Dragon Clan Lineage Theory. The ultimate goal of all courses is…,” he looked directly into Su An’s eyes, “to slay dragons!”
"Then how do you explain your superpowers?"
"That's the dragon-slaying tool I plan to introduce last—the Power of Words! Follow me..."
Angers snapped his fingers and pressed a mechanism next to Su An's hospital bed, instantly opening a hidden door in the pristine white wall.
Su An stared at the hidden door that Angers had casually opened and couldn't help but complain: "I've been wanting to ask this for a while now. The battle just now was definitely quite loud, with swords, guns, fire, and explosions. The light machine guns were firing like firecrackers. Those medical staff seemed to be deaf and didn't seem to notice anything at all!"
This is a hospital! In my body's memory, it's always been a legitimate hospital! What hospital has so many guns, ammunition, mysterious objects, and eerie secret doors?!
Angers stepped through the hidden door and gestured for Su An to follow: "Kassel College is governed by a board of directors, who are quite wealthy..."
"You mean?"
"Yes, the Academy's Executive Department bought this hospital the moment you fell into a coma and were admitted."
Su An felt like he was choking on a mouthful of blood, unsure of where to begin.
Angers explained helplessly, "After all, it involves S-rank and high-risk Words of Power, which are very precious and important secrets in the hybrid world. Since it's all necessary budget, Frost will understand."
Su An always felt that when Angers talked about "necessary budget" and "getting Frost to spend money," the corners of his mouth seemed to turn up slightly.
Angers stepped into the shadows of the hidden door, turned around and looked at Su An:
"So now you're willing to come with me without worry?"
Su An nodded and stepped out with his right foot, following closely behind.
The passageway was dark and long, without any candlelight or lamplight; its pitch blackness seemed to engulf the two people.
Angers walked ahead, his back completely exposed to Su An, who followed closely behind.
In the darkness, Angers slowly spoke: "All the power of the dragon bloodline comes from words. By chanting dragon script and dragon language, the rules of space and time within the domain will be redefined by the power from the dragon bloodline, thus generating supernatural power. This is the power of words."
Words of power are divided into many types, each with different effects depending on the domain they occupy. For example, fire and electricity, acceleration and stillness, invisibility and enhancement. These words of power are organized into a table, with the earlier the number, the more dangerous the ability.
The power of your Word of Power does not exist in the known history, and its effect is top-notch. In the future, it may even be ranked before the Rhine!
"Su An, your potential is frighteningly high, which inevitably attracts the attention of those with ill intentions. Don't listen to the nonsense spouted by that Frost Gattuso; he's a mercenary businessman. You have a much brighter future ahead of you."
They soon reached the end of the passageway, where light peeked out from a crack in the door at the end.
"Words of power are the product of dragon script and language interfering with the reality of the realm. They are not only used in combat, but also to assist in interrogation. Remember those villains who attacked you? The elites of the Execution Department are inside using the power of mental words of power to hypnotize their brains and induce them to reveal the mastermind behind it all."
Angers smiled and said, "If you are the spearhead in the future, then these elite support personnel are the cornerstone for stabilizing the rear... You should get to know those elites."
Su An nodded, and Angers opened the door, allowing the sliver of light to expand and suddenly brighten the view.
This was a small room with spotlights densely packed on the ceiling. The light from the spotlights converged on a chair in the center, where a bald man was tied up, his face bruised and swollen, writhing and howling in pain.
Beside him stood a tall, muscular man in black with gleaming golden eyes. He appeared to be a mixed-race individual, but seemed to have no intention of using his incantation. This support elite, as Angers had mentioned, was repeatedly punching the bald man.
With every word he uttered, he would swing his fist and beat the bald man mercilessly.
"explain......"
"Snapped!"
"Who's behind you...?"
"Snapped!"
"To tell or not to tell...."
"Snapped!"
"That'll teach you to stay quiet..."
"Snapped!"
"Is there anything else I haven't said...?"
"Snapped!"
Su An glanced at the burly figure of the man in black, then stiffly turned to look at Angers, who was equally stiff: "Is this the Word of Power you were talking about?"
