Chapter 569 The Unharvested Grass Road Town
Chapter 569 The Unharvested Grass Road Town
"Hey, do you want to continue?"
Li Luochen looked at Peter, his tone devoid of provocation, simply confirming the other's wishes.
He could see the condition of the single oocyte sphere; continuing the attack would be pointless.
"Attack? Why not?" Peter gritted his teeth, retrieved the limp single-egg ball, and pulled another Poké Ball from his waist. "Gothic Baby, you go!"
The Gothic baby landed safely.
Both are superpowered, but Gothic Baby's overall presence is significantly stronger than that of the single oocyte.
As soon as it entered the arena, it put its hands on its hips, looked up at the blue crocodile that was several times its own size, and snorted.
"Bite down!"
Li Luochen's command was still the same.
The blue crocodile flicked its tail, opened its massive jaws filled with sharp teeth again, and pounced on Gothic Baby.
Peter's eyes sharpened. This time, instead of taking the hit head-on as before, he quickly shouted, "Goth baby, dodge and then use telekinesis!"
As the Gothic baby tried to dodge to the side, the blue crocodile's thick tail swept across and landed squarely on its ankle.
"Brother Wu!"
The Gothic baby lost its balance and fell backward to the ground. Before it could get up, a huge mouth full of sharp teeth loomed over it.
It took another bite!
Baby Gothic frantically thrashed its short legs in the blue crocodile's mouth, making "woof woof" protesting noises.
The blue crocodile, however, carried it nonchalantly, making muffled gurgling sounds in its throat, as if it were carrying a weightless toy.
Baby Goth only struggled twice in the Blue Crocodile's mouth before collapsing completely, losing its ability to fight.
"Ori Gei Gei." (This isn't challenging at all.)
The blue crocodile opened its mouth, nudged the soft little thing with its nose, and then turned to look at Li Luochen.
Li Luochen looked at Peter.
Peter gritted his teeth and silently retracted the Gothic Baby.
After losing two games in a row, a hint of anxiety finally appeared on his arrogant face, but more than that, it was a stubborn refusal to accept defeat.
He didn't stop, but took out the last super ball from his waist and gripped it tightly!
"Mibrim, it's up to you to clean up the mess!"
Mibrim landed lightly.
Its body is pink and blue, with long sideburns drooping on the ground and its tail standing high like a hat.
They look docile and harmless.
This time, Li Luochen simply skipped the instructions, putting his hands in his pockets and clearly letting Blue Crocodile handle it himself.
"Ori Gei Gei!" (Got it, I'll play by myself!)
The blue crocodile understood immediately. It looked down at the pink and purple creature in front of it, tilted its head and thought for two seconds, then stretched out its paw and tentatively nudged Mibrim.
Mibrim rolled half a circle on the ground.
Blue Crocodile's eyes lit up, as if he had discovered a new continent.
It flicked it again, and Mibrim rolled half a circle again.
Now the blue crocodile was really intrigued, using its left paw and right tail to toss Mibrim around on the ground like a ball.
Mibrim wanted to fight back with her superpowers, but every time she gathered her psychic power, it was swatted away by Blue Crocodile's claws. She couldn't even unleash a decent move and could only let out a series of aggrieved "Bribri" sounds as she rolled around on the grass.
Peter's hand, gripping the Superball, was trembling.
His ace, his most trusted partner, couldn't even fight back against the opponent, and was treated like a toy by the opponent's Pokémon!
For Peter, this was an absolute disgrace.
He's not someone who can't accept defeat; he admits he's not as skilled as others.
Even if he was crushed or had his head shaved, he could grit his teeth and swallow his resentment.
But what's with treating your trump card like a ball?!
That was Mibrim, his most trusted partner, the starter Pokémon given to him by Chairman Rose, and the trump card he had nurtured from scratch!
This isn't a soccer ball that anyone can kick on the street!
Peter's face flushed crimson, and his shoulders trembled slightly beneath his pinkish-purple coat: "Mibrim, come back!"
He gritted his teeth and pulled back Mibrim, who was rolling around on the grass, dizzy. He glared at Li Luochen with a mixture of shame and anger, and his eyes were even a little red, but he stubbornly held back his tears.
And just like that, Peter ran off without looking back.
His pinkish-purple coat swung wildly in the wind, leaving a messy arc. His short, gray hair was tousled by the wind. He ran while wiping his eyes hard with his sleeve, but his steps never faltered.
When one person cries, true love conquers all!
Li Luochen scratched his head and turned to look at Katishia.
"Isn't Blue Crocodile going a bit too far?" he asked belatedly.
Kathisia thought about it seriously for two seconds, then patted him on the shoulder and said sincerely, "I think there's nothing wrong with it. He needs to be tortured."
Blue Crocodile, however, felt that he hadn't done anything wrong.
The little pink and purple thing was round and plump with short antennae. When it rolled on the ground, it made a soft, squeaking sound. It looked just like a ball.
When Mibrim was rolling around, she was clearly making a lot of noise. Although it sounded like "Bribri" protesting, maybe in her language it meant "I'm so happy, so happy".
The blue crocodile was completely confident in its judgment, swaying its tail with a calm expression.
Peter's matter is now settled.
The wind on Highway 4 continued to blow gently, and golden waves of grass surged in the approaching sunset.
Li Luochen put away the Poké Ball and glanced at the map.
We're only a short distance from Caolu Town now; if we keep going, we should arrive by evening.
......
......
As evening fell, the two finally entered Caolu Town.
The setting sun bathed the entire town in a vibrant orange hue, wisps of smoke curled from the red-tiled rooftops, and sunflowers along the field ridges slowly turned their flower heads to greet the last rays of sunlight.
Everything seemed peaceful and beautiful, but Li Luochen soon sensed something was amiss.
The town's residents gathered by the roadside, talking in hushed tones, their faces showing barely concealed worry.
The uncle who runs the grocery store leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed and sighed, while the old lady selling vegetables was too busy chatting with her neighbors to even pack up her stall.
The entire town seemed shrouded in an invisible dark cloud, completely out of place with the festive atmosphere of the league's opening ceremony.
"What's wrong?" Kathia asked softly.
Li Luochen shook his head and decided to ask the residents along the roadside.
"Hello, what's wrong here?"
Li Luochen found an uncle who was standing by the edge of the field sighing and politely went up to ask him what was wrong.
The middle-aged man looked up at them and saw that they were two young trainers from out of town. He sighed and pointed with his rough fingers to the vast fields behind him: "Sigh, this year's harvest isn't very good."
"Look, the wheat ears have shriveled up after only being halfway through the grain filling stage, and a large area of the seedlings in the vegetable field have turned yellow. In previous years, the first crop should have been harvested by now."
He squatted down, casually plucked a withered wheat seedling, and handed it to them, his tone full of helplessness: "Generations in Caolu Town have relied on farming for their livelihood. If the harvest is bad, everyone is very worried."
