Chapter 8 Refusal
Chapter 8 Refusal
Bei Bei became increasingly certain that Huo Yuhao must possess a super martial soul.
Otherwise, he simply couldn't explain why, even though he and Tang Ya had both used Ghost Shadow Stalking, they still couldn't catch up with Huo Yuhao.
"Young man! Please wait!" Beibei called out.
Behind him, Tang Ya, panting heavily, supported herself on her knees, so exhausted that she could hardly breathe.
"High attack power combined with super speed, what kind of martial soul is this that can bring such a boost to the body?"
She raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead, looking at Huo Yuhao who had stopped, her heart filled with countless questions.
Huo Yuhao stopped and turned to look at them, asking with a puzzled expression, "Gentlemen, is there anything else?"
Bei Bei stepped forward, clasped his hands in a fist and palm salute, and said, "Young brother, I am Bei Bei, and this is Tang Ya. We are both students of Shrek Academy. May I ask how you are addressed?"
"Huo Yuhao." Huo Yuhao is not yet at the point of faking his name.
Beibei continued, "It's like this, Tang Ya and I saw that Brother Huo was able to kill Feng Hu on his own at such a young age, which shows that he has extraordinary talent, so we had the idea of befriending him."
"May I be so bold as to ask, Brother Huo, who is your teacher? Perhaps you have some connection with us."
Huo Yuhao's gaze swept over Bei Bei and Tang Ya.
Beibei appeared quite composed, while Tang Ya practically had the words "cannibalism" written all over her face.
Huo Yuhao thought to himself that they probably wanted to invite him to join Shrek Academy.
"A self-taught individual, never affiliated with any faction," he replied.
Before becoming a god and breaking the shackles of the universe, Huo Yuhao did not believe he was qualified to consider himself a member of the Martial Realm.
Upon hearing Huo Yuhao's answer, Bei Bei and Tang Ya's pupils contracted almost imperceptibly.
As expected, his martial soul must be a super martial soul.
Tang Ya suppressed the shock in her heart and took several deep breaths to barely calm her excited emotions.
She stared intently at Huo Yuhao and asked, "Young Master Huo, have you ever heard of the Tang Clan?"
"I've heard a little about it," Huo Yuhao answered truthfully, then asked in return, "Are you two from the Tang Sect?"
Tang Ya nodded quickly: "I am the current sect leader of the Tang Clan, and he is the eldest disciple of the Tang Clan."
Huo Yuhao recalled the description of the Tang Clan in the Miscellaneous Chapters of Martial Arts.
The Tang Sect is not mentioned much in the Martial Arts Classic, far less so than the Body Sect and Shrek Academy.
The Martial Arts Manual records the founding and rise and fall of the Tang Clan. Apart from that, it only briefly mentions the names of a few important martial arts techniques of the Tang Clan. The entire text is no more than two hundred words long.
After receiving Tang Ya's affirmative reply, Huo Yuhao first said "Oh," and then responded with a fist and palm salute: "I have long admired your name."
Bei Bei opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, Tang Ya suddenly walked up to Huo Yuhao and stared intently at him.
She asked excitedly, "Young Master Huo, would you like to join our Tang Clan?"
"I'm not exaggerating or lying to you, our Tang Clan has indeed declined. However, the most important martial arts techniques of the Tang Clan have not been lost. We simply failed to adapt to the times back then, which does not mean that the Tang Clan's heritage is bad!"
Seeing this, Beibei sighed helplessly, thinking that Tang Ya was being too impatient, which might backfire.
But now that things had come to this, he could only go along with what Tang Ya said:
"The Tang Sect was founded by the Sea God Tang San, with the Phoenix God Ma Hongjun serving as its vice sect leader. It was a true dual-god force and was once hailed as the number one sect on the entire continent."
"The Tang Clan may not be as good as Soul Guidance Devices in terms of hidden weapons, but their cultivation techniques are still unparalleled. With your talent, Brother Huo, practicing the Tang Clan's techniques would be like adding wings to a tiger."
Tang Ya quickly followed up, saying, "My martial soul is Blue Silver Grass. Everyone on the continent knows that it's a useless martial soul, but thanks to the Tang Sect's techniques, I managed to cultivate it into a Soul Master at my current age. This is enough to prove the power of the Tang Sect's techniques."
"And most importantly," Tang Ya took a deep breath, "our Tang Sect has one spot available for an entrance interview at Shrek Academy!"
"If you join the Tang Sect, you will not only gain access to our martial arts techniques and unique skills, but you can also join Shrek Academy! With the Tang Sect's techniques at your disposal and Shrek Academy's instruction outside, your talent will definitely not be wasted!"
"Thank you for your kind offer." Huo Yuhao took a half step back and bowed slightly, saying, "I refuse to join the Tang Sect, nor will I join Shrek Academy."
Of all the unique skills of the Tang Clan, only the Purple Demon Eye was useful to him, but even that was not much.
Moreover, the cultivation method of the Desolate Demon Eye is already recorded in the Martial Classic. As long as one's spiritual strength meets the standard, one can immediately begin cultivation. There is absolutely no need to join the Tang Sect just because of the Purple Demon Eye.
Bei Bei raised her hand to stop Tang Ya, who was about to try to persuade her again: "Brother Huo, what happened to you at Shrek Academy?"
He was now terrified that Huo Yuhao, just as he had suspected, might develop a hostile attitude towards Shrek Academy because of a letter of recommendation.
Huo Yuhao shook his head: "No, I haven't even been to Shrek Academy, so how could I have encountered anything?"
He then cupped his hands in greeting and said, "Thank you for your kind offer, but I already have a place I'd like to go, so I won't talk to you any longer."
Tang Ya reached out her hand, but Bei Bei grabbed it.
"Teacher Xiaoya, forced relationships are never sweet."
Watching Huo Yuhao's retreating figure, Bei Bei turned to Tang Ya and said, "Judging from the direction he's heading, he's probably going to the Imperial Academy. As long as he's not from the Sun Moon Empire, that's good news for us."
"You're really optimistic!" Tang Ya kicked a stone in annoyance. "You're not the leader of the Tang Clan!"
Beibei smiled and hugged Tang Ya, gently stroking her hair, and said, "Alright, Teacher Xiao Ya, let's go back and see this year's freshmen. Maybe there will be someone suitable for the Tang Clan among them."
"That's still not as good as Huo Yuhao."
Tang Ya broke free from Bei Bei's embrace: "If I don't let him join the Tang Clan, I feel like I've lost something very important."
Beibei was taken aback; it turned out that Tang Ya also had this feeling.
"Forget it," Tang Ya turned around dejectedly. "If someone doesn't want to join the Tang Clan, are you going to beg them to stay?"
"Our Tang Clan is, after all, a divine lineage. Not joining the Tang Clan is his own loss!"
"When he regrets it, I'll make him kowtow three times before he'll join the Tang Clan!"
Tang Ya comforted herself in this way.
Beibei glanced in the direction Huo Yuhao had left, murmured Huo Yuhao's name a few times, and then hurriedly turned around to catch up with Tang Ya.
"The Mysterious Heaven Skill is unparalleled in the world," he comforted her. "I believe the Tang Clan will definitely be revived under Teacher Xiaoya's guidance!"
"By the way, should we tell the academy about Huo Yuhao?" Tang Ya stopped and asked, ignoring Bei Bei's flattery.
Beibei hesitated for a moment.
He then said, "The Imperial Academy has produced a super martial soul, and this news definitely needs to be shared with the academy."
