Chapter 449: The Chaotic Singularity
The Styx Starfield, at the edge of the seventh universe, once a dazzling cluster of stars known as the "Pearl of the Galaxy," is now nothing but a deathly darkness. The modified Ark II spaceship lurched forward through the void, its hull charred black from friction with chaotic energy, the red warning lights on the instrument panel flashing wildly, and the piercing alarm screeching painfully in the ears.
"It's no use! The gravitational field of the chaotic singularity is too strong, and the ship's conventional engines are about to overload!" Bulma's voice came through the communicator, accompanied by obvious electrical static. "If we get any closer—just three hundred kilometers—we'll be sucked in and torn to shreds!"
Lin Ye gripped the control stick tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force. Staring at the distorted starlight outside the porthole, he gritted his teeth and said, "Activate the anti-gravity engine, turn it to maximum power! I'll use divine power to counteract gravity!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he slammed his palm down on the energy interface in the center of the control panel. Golden divine runes spread along his arm, resonating with the ancient runes on the surface of the control panel, and a pale golden protective shield instantly enveloped the spaceship. The violently shaking hull stabilized slightly, but fine cracks began to appear on the surface of the protective shield, as chaotic energy frantically eroded this defense.
"Hold on! We're almost there!" Veins bulged on Lin Ye's forehead as he continuously channeled divine power into the protective shield.
Through the porthole, he finally saw the entirety of the chaotic singularity: a black sphere over 100,000 kilometers in diameter, its surface writhing with spacetime rifts twisted like centipedes. The surrounding light was forcibly stretched into a spiral, and even the cosmic microwave background radiation vanished completely here. Even more terrifying, countless planetary debris floated around the sphere, as if crushed and scattered by an invisible giant hand.
"This thing is terrifying..." came Klin's gasp from the communicator. "It's a hundred times more terrifying than the legendary black hole."
"Life signals detected in the spacetime rift at the edge of the singularity!" Alice's holographic projection suddenly flickered, her voice filled with surprise. "It's the Namekian reconnaissance team! They still have faint life signs, but their energy levels have dropped to a critical level!"
Lin Ye's eyes suddenly narrowed: "Why are the Namekians here? Weren't they supposed to be collecting magical materials?"
“They might have been accidentally pulled into the singularity’s gravity during reconnaissance.” Bulma typed rapidly on the keyboard, bringing up more detailed data analysis. “Their ship wreckage is on the edge of the crevice, and it looks like they’ve been trapped for at least a day.”
"We must rescue them." Lin Ye said firmly. "The Namekians have a more acute sense of energy than we do. They must have collected firsthand data about the inside of the singularity. This data is crucial for the development of the purification barrier."
"But we can't get close at all!" Bulma stamped her feet in frustration. "Chaos energy devours all energy bodies, and your divine power won't last long!"
Lin Ye remained silent for a moment, when suddenly the "Breath of the God of Destruction" that Beerus had taught him flashed through his mind. It was a secret technique that could temporarily conceal one's aura and blend into the surrounding environment. It was originally used for covert tracking, but perhaps it could be used to avoid the erosion of chaotic energy.
He took a deep breath and slowly closed his eyes. The surging golden aura around him suddenly subsided, and his entire aura became as cold and silent as the surrounding void, even his divine fluctuations were completely suppressed.
"I'm going to rescue them. You guys stay here and provide support from a distance." Lin Ye opened the spaceship's hatch, and cold cosmic rays instantly poured in. "Once I get my men out, activate the warp drive and leave immediately!"
"It's too dangerous! Should we think of another way?" Number 18's voice was filled with worry. She looked at Lin Ye's unprotected back and subconsciously reached out to grab him, but only grasped at empty air.
Lin Ye didn't look back, his figure shooting towards the chaotic singularity like an arrow released from a bow. As soon as he entered the singularity's gravitational pull, he felt a terrifying force surging from all directions, as if countless hands were tearing at his limbs. The divine runes beneath his skin began to heat up, constantly resisting the invasion of chaotic energy, but with each step forward, the light of the divine runes dimmed a little.
"Hold on..." Lin Ye gritted his teeth, his gaze fixed on the spacetime rift. There floated five green figures huddled together—the Namekian reconnaissance team. Their life energy was as weak as a candle in the wind; they were clearly on the verge of collapse.
"Hey! We're here!" The leader of the Namekians sensed Lin Ye's presence, weakly raised his head, and said in a hoarse voice, "Get out of here! It's too dangerous!"
Without a word, Lin Ye rushed to their side and immediately divided his divine power into five streams, injecting them into each person's body. Feeling the replenishment of life energy, the Namekians visibly became more energetic. However, before they could react, the Chaos Singularity suddenly erupted with an even stronger suction force. The black energy vortex, like the mouth of a giant beast, instantly pulled the group towards its center.
"Not good!" Lin Ye's expression changed drastically. He immediately gathered all his divine power in his palm, forming a thick golden barrier in front of him. "Grab me! Don't let go!"
The Namekian quickly grabbed Lin Ye's arm, but the suction force of the Chaos Singularity was too strong. The golden barrier instantly cracked, emitting a creaking sound. A trace of blood trickled from the corner of Lin Ye's mouth, and his arm began to tremble as it could no longer withstand the pulling force.
“Abandon us, outsider.” The Namekian leader looked at his pale face, his eyes filled with determination. “We have already stored the collected singularity data in this memory. Take it with you and complete the development of the purification barrier—it is far more important than our lives!”
He shoved a small green memory stick into Lin Ye's hand and was about to let go of Lin Ye's hand.
"Shut up!" Lin Ye roared, gripping his wrist tightly. "Now that I'm here, I won't abandon anyone!"
Just then, his gaze swept over the distorted energy patterns on the singularity's surface, and he suddenly remembered the Omni-King's power of cleansing. He had sensed fluctuations of this power before in the Omni-King's palace. Although it was now corrupted by chaotic energy, it was still essentially pure energy capable of disintegrating everything. Perhaps, he could use this power to temporarily resist the suction force?
"Let's take a gamble!" Lin Ye took a deep breath, pressed his palm against the surface of the singularity, and activated the divine sealing technique that Beerus had taught him, attempting to guide the corrupted cleansing power.
The golden cleansing power collided instantly with the black chaotic energy, erupting in a blinding light. The intense energy impact temporarily weakened the singularity's suction force, and Lin Ye seized the opportunity, carrying the five Namekians, turning and charging towards "Ark II" with all his might.
"Quick! Activate the warp drive!" Lin Ye's voice came through the communicator into the spaceship.
Bulma didn't dare delay and immediately pressed the warp button. The spaceship's engines roared as it flew towards Lin Ye. Just as the group was about to enter the spaceship's hatch, the singularity's suction force intensified again, and Lin Ye's ankle was bound by a black energy, causing him to stumble.
"Lin Ye!" Android 18 exclaimed, immediately reaching out to grab his arm. Krillin and Bulma also rushed over to help, and together they pulled Lin Ye and the Namekian into the spaceship.
"Close the hatch! Jump immediately!" Bulma shouted, pressing the button. As the hatch slowly closed, the spaceship transformed into a streak of light, instantly escaping the gravitational pull of the chaotic singularity.
Having just left the danger zone, Lin Ye slumped into his chair, panting heavily. The divine markings beneath his skin had become dull and lifeless, and all his strength seemed to have been drained away; he didn't even have the strength to lift his hand. Number 18 handed him a cup of nutrient solution, which he took and drank in one gulp, only then feeling slightly better.
"Are you alright? You look terrible." Number 18 looked at him with concern.
"It's nothing, it's just that my divine power was used up too much." Lin Ye waved his hand and handed the green storage device to Bulma. "Take a look at the data inside."
Bulma immediately connected the memory to the ship's main computer. The screen quickly displayed an image of the singularity's interior: countless black chaotic energies converged at the center of the singularity to form a massive core, surrounded by eerie red patterns—patterns identical to those on the core of Kronos!
"I see!" Bulma's eyes gleamed with excitement as she slammed her hand on the table and shouted, "The core of the Chaos Singularity is the source of Chaos Energy! As long as we can destroy these cores, we can fundamentally stop the spread of Chaos Energy!"
Lin Ye nodded, but his brows remained furrowed: "But we can't act yet. The energy shock from the core explosion is too terrifying. If there's no purification barrier to stop it, more than a dozen universes around will be affected."
“Then we need to speed up the development of the purification barrier.” Klin looked at the screen and said in a serious tone, “If there are a few more of these, the consequences will be unimaginable.”
Just then, the spaceship's alarm suddenly sounded again, even more piercing than before. The screen showed that a planet not far from them was rapidly collapsing, with black chaotic energy gushing from its interior, clearly indicating that a new chaotic singularity was about to form.
Lin Ye suddenly stood up, his eyes becoming incredibly determined: "Notify everyone to speed things up! Vegeta needs to gather the Super Dragon Balls as soon as possible, and the materials for Namek must be delivered within three days. We don't have much time left."
As soon as he finished speaking, he walked toward the spaceship's laboratory: "I'll contact Dandy now and adjust the design of the core device based on this data."
Watching Lin Ye's retreating figure, Android 18 and Bulma exchanged a glance, both seeing determination in each other's eyes. The spaceship sped through the void, heading towards the Ark Space Station, while in the distance, a new chaotic singularity had begun to form, and a black shadow once again shrouded a star field.
A race against time has only just begun.
Chapter 450: Core Research and Development
Inside the core laboratory of the Ark Space Station, the lights were blazing, and hundreds of researchers were busy at their respective tasks. Earth scientists stared at the data flashing on the screens, their fingers flying across the keyboards; Namekian magicians sat around magic circles, chanting incantations, as green life energy flowed into the circles like water; and cosmic craftsmen were adjusting various precision instruments, the clanging of metal clashing echoing in the air.
A huge holographic projection floated in the center of the laboratory; it was a three-dimensional model of the purification barrier. Countless tiny points of light flickered on the model, representing nodes that needed adjustment. Lin Ye stood in front of the model, holding a Super Dragon Ball fragment the size of a pigeon's egg in his hand, his brows furrowed.
"Are you ready? If we fail again this time, we'll only have one last fragment left." Dandy walked to his side, his face pale, clearly indicating that the previous attempts had consumed a lot of his magical energy.
Lin Ye nodded and took a deep breath: "Let's begin. This time I will slow down the output speed of divine power. You focus on guiding life energy and try to match the fluctuations of the power of creation."
He placed the Super Dragon Ball fragment in the core recess of the model, channeling golden divine power into it through his fingertips. The fragment instantly lit up, unleashing a surge of immense creative power that surged forth like a wild horse within the model. Dende immediately chanted an incantation, his hands forming a hand seal. Green life energy transformed into countless fine threads, carefully binding the creative power and attempting to guide it to various nodes within the model.
"Energy compatibility 72%...75%...and it's still rising!" the scientist in charge of monitoring the data shouted excitedly.
Cold sweat beaded on Lin Ye's forehead. He could clearly feel the rage of the power of creation. This power was too domineering; the slightest carelessness would destroy the model's structure. He could only adjust the output of his divine power little by little, calming this "beast" like a beast tamer.
"78%!" The data stopped fluctuating, and the curve on the screen began to oscillate. "No! It's still unstable! The power of creation and life energy are repelling each other at the node!"
Dandy's face paled even more. He gritted his teeth and increased his magical output, but the green energy threads continued to break: "It's too violent... The power of creation simply refuses to be restrained. Life energy will be dispersed as soon as it gets close."
Lin Ye withdrew his hand, staring at the flashing red warning light on the model, lost in thought. Five consecutive attempts had failed, each time stuck at 78% compatibility; any higher and a rejection reaction would occur. If this problem couldn't be solved, the core device of the purification barrier couldn't be formed at all.
“Let me see the data.” Bulma pushed through the crowd and walked over, quickly swiping her finger across the screen to bring up the energy analysis chart. “The power of creation belongs to the creative attribute of ‘creating something from nothing,’ while life energy is the nourishing attribute of ‘nurturing and growing.’ Although both are related to ‘life,’ they are essentially like fire and water; forcibly mixing them together will only cancel each other out.”
"Then what can we do? Isn't there any way to make them compatible?" Lin Ye asked anxiously.
Bulma rested her chin on her hand and thought for a moment, then her eyes suddenly lit up: "I have! We need a 'neutralizer'! This thing must have both the properties of creation and nurturing, like a lubricant to blend them together."
"Where can I find this neutralizing agent?" Dandy asked quickly.
“In the entire multiverse, only the Angel race’s ‘spacetime power’ meets the requirements.” Bulma pointed to a curve on the analysis chart. “Spacetime power can both distort and reconstruct (creation attribute) and bear and nurture everything (nourishment attribute), which can just neutralize the conflict between the two energies.”
Lin Ye's expression instantly turned serious: "I'll contact Weiss right away!"
Just then, the laboratory door was flung open, and Vegeta and Trunks walked in one after the other. Vegeta's black battle suit was covered in dust, and his face showed exhaustion, but he was tightly clutching a golden sphere the size of a basketball in his hand—the last Super Dragon Ball!
"All the Super Dragon Balls are here!" Vegeta tossed the Super Dragon Balls to Lin Ye, his tone carrying a hint of barely perceptible pride. "Don't waste our hard work, kid."
Lin Ye caught the Super Dragon Ball steadily; it was cool to the touch, and a pure force of creation emanated from it. Looking into Vegeta's bloodshot eyes, a warm feeling welled up inside him: "Thank you. However, we still need the Angel race's spacetime power as a neutralizer; otherwise, the core device still won't be complete."
“You don’t need to tell me, I’ve already contacted Whis.” Trunks wiped the sweat from his face and said with a smile, “He said he’s dealing with a small matter in Universe 6 and will be there soon.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a gentle light flashed, and Weiss appeared in the center of the laboratory, still holding the iconic silver spoon in his hand, with a calm smile on his face: "Sorry for being late, I just helped Lord Champa clean up the dessert warehouse that was contaminated by chaotic energy."
"Mr. Weiss, you've finally arrived!" Lin Ye hurriedly stepped forward. "We urgently need the power of spacetime to neutralize the conflict between the power of creation and the energy of life."
“I know.” Weiss smiled and raised his hand. A transparent crystal rose from his palm, with silver energy flowing inside, like a mini galaxy slowly rotating. “This is a crystallization of the spacetime power condensed by the Angel race. Its purity is enough to neutralize the creation power of the Super Dragon Balls.”
Lin Ye's eyes lit up: "Great! Let's start the fusion now!"
Everyone crowded around, holding their breath. Lin Ye placed the Super Dragon Ball into the core groove of the model, while Whis placed the Space-Time Crystal above the Super Dragon Ball. Golden Creation Power, green Life Energy, and silver Space-Time Power lit up simultaneously, the three beams of light intertwining to form a dazzling tricolor band of light that slowly poured into the model.
"Energy compatibility 80%... 85%... 90%!" The scientist monitoring the data trembled with excitement. "It's still rising! No rejection reaction has been detected!"
Lin Ye stared intently at the model, his hands constantly adjusting the rhythm of his divine power output. Dandy was also completely focused on guiding the life energy, directing it along the trajectory of the spacetime power. Weiss stood to the side, occasionally raising his hand to lightly tap and fine-tune the fluctuations of the spacetime power.
"95%...98%...100%!"
The moment the data reached 100%, the entire model suddenly burst into a dazzling light. Countless points of light converged into a complete, phantom barrier that briefly appeared in the laboratory before slowly dissipating. All the warning lights on the screen went out, leaving only the green indicator light, representing "success," flashing continuously.
"It worked! We succeeded!"
A deafening cheer erupted in the laboratory. Scientists embraced each other, and the Namekians smiled with relief. Lin Ye let out a long sigh of relief, his tense body suddenly going limp as he slumped heavily to the ground. The golden divine markings beneath his skin had faded and he no longer had the strength to even lift his hand.
Weiss stepped forward and handed Lin Ye a pink candy: "Mr. Lin Ye, thank you for your hard work. Although the core device is complete, the main body of the barrier still needs a lot of components, so you don't have much time."
Lin Ye took the candy, unwrapped it, and put it in his mouth. A sweet energy instantly spread throughout his body, making him feel much more energetic: "I know. The main part needs everyone's help. Earth is responsible for producing the components, Namek is responsible for the magical reinforcement, the Angels are responsible for stabilizing the structure, and the destructive energy of the Gods of Destruction is used to strengthen the barrier."
"Don't worry, I've already spoken to the God of Destruction," Whis said with a smile. "Lord Beerus may be complaining, but he's already preparing to inject destructive energy."
Vegeta crouched down, patted Lin Ye on the shoulder, and said in a rare gentle tone, "Rest for half an hour, then continue. Saiyans never let you down at crucial moments, and this time is no exception."
Looking at the determined eyes of his companions, Lin Ye felt a surge of strength. He stood up and wiped the sweat from his face: "No need to rest, time waits for no one. Bulma, notify the Earth factory to ramp up production of the barrier components; Dende, organize the Namekian magicians to prepare the magic array; Trunks, you go and coordinate with the transport fleets from various universes to ensure the components arrive at the space station in time."
"Received!" everyone responded in unison, turning around to get back to their new work.
For the next month, the entire Ark space station operated at high speed. Earth's factories ran 24 hours a day, transporting batches of barrier components to the space station via space jumps; Namekian sorcerers took turns on duty, inscribing life magic into each component; Whis and other angels would occasionally come over to reinforce the barrier's structure with the power of spacetime; Beerus, Quitra, and other Gods of Destruction also arrived one after another, injecting destructive energy into the core device to enhance the barrier's defensive capabilities.
Lin Ye barely slept, spending every day in the laboratory adjusting the barrier's parameters in real time. When he was tired, he would lean back in his chair and doze off for a while; when he was hungry, he would eat some nutritional supplements. The divine runes under his skin began to ache faintly due to the continuous depletion of his divine power, but he never gave up.
Finally, on the last day of the three-month deadline, the final barrier component was installed. In the main control room of the Ark Space Station, everyone gathered around the screen, watching Lin Ye with bated breath.
“All preparations are complete, and the purification barrier can be activated at any time.” Bulma’s voice trembled slightly.
Lin Ye took a deep breath, his gaze sweeping over all the chaotic singularities displayed on the screen, and said in a deep voice, "Activate the purification barrier! Target... all chaotic singularities!"
Bulma pressed the red start button hard.
Instantly, the core device of the Ark Space Station erupted with dazzling light, and a massive tri-colored barrier extended from the space station, like a boundless giant net, spreading rapidly towards the various chaotic singularities. In less than ten minutes, all the chaotic singularities were firmly trapped by the barrier. The black chaotic energy surged wildly within the barrier, but it could not break through this defense.
"It's a success! It's really a success!"
A thunderous cheer erupted in the control room. Some people were so excited that they shed tears, while others high-fived each other in celebration. Lin Ye watched as the chaotic energy on the screen was gradually purified by the barrier, a relieved smile appearing on his face.
But just then, Alice's holographic projection suddenly flickered, and the alarm sounded again: "Warning! Unknown energy signal detected! Rapidly approaching the purification barrier!"
A huge red dot appeared on the screen, hurtling towards the barrier at incredible speed. Everyone's smiles froze instantly, and Lin Ye's brow furrowed again; a new crisis seemed imminent.
Chapter 451: The Secret of the Tree Core
The aftershocks of the spacetime turbulence still churned above Namek, purple energy vortexes tearing the clouds to shreds. Lin Ye knelt on one knee on the scorched earth, the fragment of the Key of Time in his palm trembling slightly, resonating with the energy emanating from deep underground. Dark red patterns spread along the soil, weaving a massive array of ancient runes beneath his feet, each engraving flowing with terrifying fluctuations surpassing those of a God of Destruction.
"Warning! Ultra-high purity primordial energy resonance detected, purity reached 97.3%!" Alice's mechanical voice trembled unusually, and the holographic projection flickered incessantly due to energy interference. "Host's vital signs are becoming unstable! Immediate evacuation is recommended; this energy intensity will tear apart your cellular structure!"
Lin Ye didn't move, not even blink. He could clearly sense that some colossal entity that had slumbered for billions of years underground was awakening, its power like a dormant volcano, ready to erupt at any moment. The rune array undulated like breathing, distorting the surrounding spacetime into a bizarre vortex. The distant mountains stretched and folded in his vision, like paper crumpled by an invisible hand.
