"Waaah... I'm saved..."
Shizuka Marikawa's legs went weak, and she was supported by Nami, panting heavily.
The experience of gliding high in the air was too thrilling for her. She had ridden roller coasters before, but those had safety protections. This one had no protection at all; it was completely gambling with her life.
Saeko Busujima walked to the edge of the rooftop and looked down.
Over at dormitory building number 6, the zombies were still attacking, and the two particularly conspicuous infected individuals stood out.
"I really want to go down and meet them."
She murmured to herself, the tip of her wooden sword lightly grazing the cement floor.
Zhou Ye ignored them, his attention focused on the teaching building beneath his feet.
The perception of the [Fragment of the Herrscher of Reason] extended further, probing the activity inside the building.
"Shizuka-nee, which floor is the Grade 11A teaching building you mentioned, number 4?" Nami asked.
Shizuka Marikawa composed herself and pointed in a direction: "It should be... the third floor, no, the fourth floor! Yes, the corner of the Silk Building!"
Her memory was somewhat confused.
Zhou Ye began, "Fourth floor, classroom B401. There are quite a few people inside, and... quite a bit of trouble."
His senses had already locked onto the target.
"Target confirmed. Number 1, Number 2, clear the rooftop passage and prepare to infiltrate downwards," Zhou Ye ordered the mechanical soldiers beside him.
Two shield-wielding robots immediately headed towards the iron gate leading downstairs, while the remaining robots stood guard around the perimeter.
[Squeak—Bang!]
The iron gate was forcibly opened.
Meanwhile, in the fourth floor of Building 4, in a classroom for the second year of high school.
The atmosphere was oppressive and suffocating.
"Ahhh!"
A male student let out a piercing scream; a clear teeth mark on his arm was rapidly turning black.
The other male student next to him was Jack, one of Yuriko Takashiro's male bodyguards.
Jack's face turned ashen. Without the slightest hesitation, he grabbed the bitten student by the collar and dragged him to the window.
"No! No! I can still be saved! I..."
[Crash—Bang!]
The student was roughly thrown out of the window, crashing heavily onto the concrete ground below. He twitched a few times and then fell silent.
Inside the classroom, the remaining dozen or so students trembled with fear, huddled together, and several girls even let out suppressed sobs.
Yuriko Takagi held her daughter Saya Takagi tightly in her arms, her face pale, but her eyes remained calm.
"lady."
A tall, voluptuous woman dressed in a black combat uniform walked up to Yuriko Takashiro; she was her bodyguard, Rika Minami.
Nanri glanced warily at the front and back doors of the classroom, which were blocked by desks and chairs, and whispered:
"We're running low on bullets."
Yuriko Takagi looked at her: "How much is left?"
Nanri Kaori frowned: "I have twenty-four pistol bullets left. Jack, Oda, and Nikaido, the three of them probably don't have twelve bullets left in their submachine guns combined."
She paused, her voice growing deeper.
"There are at least dozens of zombies outside, crowding the corridor. We've blocked the front and back doors, but these wooden doors and walls... I don't know how long they can hold out."
Saya Takagi lifted her head from her mother's arms. Her golden twin ponytails were a little messy, but her pupils behind her glasses were unusually bright.
"Mom, we can't stay trapped here forever. We're almost out of food and water."
Her voice carried a calmness beyond her years.
Yuriko Takagi nodded; she understood perfectly well.
The only thing that can bring these terrified students a little sense of security now is the few guns in their hands.
Without guns, these students would collapse on their own, even before the zombies rush in.
Nanri Kaori continued:
"Madam, I suggest we go down the drainpipe outside the window."
She pointed to the window from which the student had just been thrown.
"Although it's dangerous, it may be our only way to survive."
Yuriko Takagi looked out the window. The building wasn't tall, but below... there were even more zombies.
"Will the reinforcements from inside the city really not arrive?" she clung to her last glimmer of hope.
Nanri Xiang shook her head, a hint of sadness flashing in her eyes.
"I'm afraid that won't work. My friend at the police station just sent a last message via encrypted channel: at least seven areas in the city have simultaneously experienced large-scale cannibalistic zombie outbreaks. The entire Raccoon City... is in complete chaos. Communications are down."
"It's over...we're doomed..."
A girl cried out in despair.
"Shut up!" Jack snapped.
"If you dare to disrupt morale again, you'll be the next one thrown down!"
The girl was so frightened that she immediately covered her mouth and dared not make a sound.
Zhou Ye remained completely unmoved.
"A rabble."
He and his robot squad had already cleared out several wandering zombies from the rooftop to the stairwell leading to the seventh floor.
The silencer reduced the gunshot to a minimum, leaving only a slight "puff puff" sound.
Shizuka Marikawa followed closely behind Nami, barely daring to breathe.
The efficiency with which these robots killed her terrified her.
"Boss, Class A on the fourth floor is on the left-hand side when you go down this staircase," Nami whispered a reminder.
Zhou Ye nodded.
In his perception, there were indeed quite a few zombies in the fourth-floor corridor, which were blocking A's doorway, roaring and charging.
"Prepare for a full-scale attack," Zhou Ye ordered.
"Saeko, you and Nami protect Mr. Marikawa and stay in the middle of the group."
Saeko Busujima licked her lips: "Finally, I can stretch my muscles a bit."
She wasn't very interested in dealing with ordinary zombies, but when their numbers increased, it was enough to give her a little warm-up.
The mechanical soldiers formed an assault formation, with those carrying shields at the front, and quickly descended the stairs.
As soon as I reached the fourth-floor stairwell, I could clearly hear a series of screams and the sound of doors being slammed.
The corridor was dark and teeming with zombies.
[Bang bang bang! 】
The mechanical soldier fired his M4 rifle.
The specially designed bullets pierced the heads of the zombies with precision, exploding into clouds of blood mist.
The zombies fell down like dumplings.
Inside Classroom A of Grade 11.
"what sound?!"
Nanri Xiang was the first to become alert, and she suddenly looked up at the doorway.
"Gunfire! It's gunfire! Very frequent gunfire!"
Jack heard it too, and his expression changed.
"Did the zombies break through the defenses elsewhere and attack?"
Oda gripped the submachine gun tightly in his hand with tension.
The students became even more panicked.
Yuriko Takagi's expression was grave:
"Everyone, prepare for battle! Hold the entrance!"
Saya Takagi frowned:
"No... these gunshots are too rhythmic, and... they seem to be coming this way."
"Saya?"
Just then, the howls of the zombies outside the classroom door suddenly subsided, replaced by heavy, rhythmic footsteps and the sound of metal scraping against metal.
[Knock knock knock!]
There was a knock on the door.
Everyone in the classroom was stunned.
"Listen up, you inside! I am Nami Tohsaka!"
Nami's voice came through the door.
"We're here for a rescue! Shizuka Marikawa-sensei is with us!"
"Shizuka?!"
Nanli Xiang cried out in disbelief.
Shizuka Marikawa rushed to the door and shouted in a tearful voice:
"Rika! It's me! It's Shizuka! Open the door! We've come to rescue you!"
