"explain."
"Zhou Ye and Tohsaka are very tight-lipped."
Yuriko Takashiro leaned back in her chair, her fingers tapping unconsciously on the table.
"They just stuck to that story from the meeting room. 'An ordinary person who knows nothing and just wants to survive.'" She paused.
“That Zhou Ye isn’t as simple as he seems. His words were loaded with meaning, as if he were warning me.”
Takashiro Soichiro was silent for a few seconds, seemingly flipping through documents.
“I just received a preliminary report from the Raccoon City Police Department, along with their background information. It’s as clean as new paper, almost too clean.”
His voice was flat.
"Executive Alex Wesker at the New York headquarters just issued the order directly."
"Oh? That busy man has finally remembered Raccoon City?"
Yuriko Takagi's tone was slightly sarcastic.
"The orders are simple: block all negative news, secretly investigate the truth behind the Zodiac Train and the Mansion incident, and bring the situation under control. As for the families who lost children, focus on comforting them; those who don't cooperate... you know the rules."
Takashiro Soichiro lowered his voice.
"There may be more suicides like this, where someone is shot eight times in the back."
Yuriko Takagi snorted.
"Wesker is still the same as always. What about Zhou Ye and Tohsaka? They clearly know something, are they just being left like this?"
"CEO Wesker's idea is to observe first."
Takashiro Soichiro didn't seem to care about Zhou Ye.
"Since they're so cowardly and so eager to distance themselves, let them stay put for now. There are too many eyes watching Raccoon City right now. If the mansion explodes and the Zodiac train crashes, those hyenas that pounce on the smell of blood will give us a headache for a while."
"You mean, deal with external pressures first?"
"more than."
A barely perceptible hint of excitement, or rather, greed, emanated from Takagi Soichiro's voice.
"Things aren't peaceful inside the company either. William Birkin... he's been making a lot of moves lately, acting all sneaky. The G-virus he has is the real big deal. Compared to external troubles, dealing with internal traitors is a priority."
Yuriko Takashiro frowned:
"You want to mess with William?"
"If he's not clean, he shouldn't blame others."
Takashiro Soichiro's voice carried a hint of coldness, "Perfect timing. This whole mess presents an opportunity. Get our hands on the G virus, find a suitable buyer... As for taking the blame, let William Birkin take the fall, isn't that perfect? Hasn't he always wanted to leave the company and switch jobs? Let's give him a hand."
Yuriko Takashiro remained silent. This politically arranged marriage was a calculated move, with each member harboring their own agendas. She was concerned with the stability of Fujimi Academy and the Takashiro family, while her husband clearly valued power and interests within Umbrella Corporation.
"So, how do you plan to observe Zhou Ye and Tohsaka?"
She changed the subject.
"I've already sent someone to visit their residence. They'll bring a few small items and listen to what they say in private."
Soichiro Takagi said casually,
"Once this storm passes, if they're still in Raccoon City, we can deal with them later. They're just two teachers; they can't cause any real trouble."
"Better so."
Yuriko Takashiro hung up the phone, and the office fell silent again. She gazed at the seemingly peaceful campus outside the window, her eyes deep in thought.
Things in Raccoon City seem to be getting more and more complicated. She needs to reassess the situation and the Takashiro family's place in this game.
Then his gaze returned to the photo of him and his daughter, Saya Takagi, on the desk, and he murmured softly:
“Saya, don’t blame your mother. Your father already has another family outside. If you don’t do this, you will become a sacrifice for his promotion. The wealthy are sometimes so cruel, only recognizing interests and not family ties.”
Chapter 47 Zhou Ye: I Can Win an Oscar
The parking lot of Fujimi Academy.
Zhou Ye led Nami towards the small car that seemed out of place in this world; it was the vehicle he had brought from his own world.
He didn't immediately reach for the car door.
My fingers gently traced the smooth paint of the car body, sliding from the roof to the door handle.
The ability of [Fragment of the Herrscher of the Void] is activated silently.
Subtle spatial ripples swept across the inside and outside of the vehicle.
The results were fed back immediately.
One, under the driver's seat.
One inside the passenger-side glove compartment.
On the back of the rearview mirror, there is a pinhole probe, angled **drill**.
There were two listening devices and one surveillance camera in total.
As Zhou Ye left Yuriko Takashiro's office, he casually tossed aside a small item and overheard Yuriko Takashiro and her husband, Soichiro Takashiro, plotting against each other. It seems a leopard can't change its spots, whether in the original story or now.
[Ha, Takashiro Soichiro, you're pretty quick.]
Umbrella's lackeys are all the same; they love to play these underhanded tricks.
Are you trying to hear our complaints? Or are you trying to find evidence of us colluding to give false statements?
Zhou Ye sneered inwardly.
He subtly withdrew his hand and instead took Nami's hand.
With a slight movement of the fingertip, information is transmitted in the most primitive and secure way.
There was something in the car. Two people were in custody, and one was in prison.
Nami's professional smile froze for a moment before returning to normal, but she couldn't help but roll her eyes wide.
[Holy crap! Again?!]
Are these bastards flies? They're like ghosts, never leaving my side! They think they can control me with a few pieces of junk? Dream on!
She was internally ranting, but on the surface, she cooperated with Zhou Ye, showing an expression of exhaustion and lingering fear.
"Let's go home."
Zhou Ye spoke, his voice soft and weary from the shock.
"Ah."
Nami nodded, her voice lowering as well.
"So much has happened, I'm really... exhausted."
Her performance was just right, conveying a sense of vulnerability tinged with shock.
Zhou Ye started the car, and the engine emitted a slight roar.
He drove the vehicle slowly out of the parking lot.
They deliberately avoided the students and parents who were anxiously waiting for news or preparing to surround them at the school gate.
The vehicles merged into the traffic and headed towards downtown Raccoon City.
In the rearview mirror, the grand gate of Fujimi Academy receded into the distance.
If you're going to act, you have to go all the way.
[Go straight home? That's too unbelievable. Having just survived a near-death experience, still shaken, shouldn't you find a place to calm down and eat something to soothe your nerves?]
Zhou Ye made his decision, then turned the steering wheel instead of heading directly to their temporary accommodation.
The car circled the city twice, seemingly aimlessly wandering.
Finally, it stopped in front of a brightly lit 24-hour chain restaurant.
"Let's eat something first."
Zhou Ye said to Nami,
"I haven't had a proper meal since the Zodiac Train started running."
“Okay.” Nami nodded obediently.
The two entered the restaurant and chose a corner seat by the window.
I ordered some simple fast food: hamburgers, fries, and cola.
While eating, the two remained in a state of "still being shaken," saying little and occasionally exchanging glances, both filled with relief and exhaustion at having survived a close call.
[The acting was so good, the Oscars owe us both an award.]
Nami took small bites of her hamburger, but in her mind she was calculating how much the meal cost.
After finishing their meal, the two did not leave immediately.
He sat in the restaurant for a while, as if he needed time to calm down.
Zhou Ye glanced out the window, observing the pedestrians and vehicles on the street, and found no one following him.
"Let's find a place to rest."
Zhou Ye suggested, "If I go home like this, I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep tonight."
“Yeah, me too,” Nami immediately agreed. “We can just find a hotel that’s close by.”
There's a fairly clean-looking business hotel on the next block.
The two got up and left the restaurant, walking to the hotel.
I registered at the front desk using my local identity document, paid, and received my room key.
Everything seemed so "ordinary".
As you enter the elevator, the numbers slowly rise.
