Then, she took a deep breath and carefully, very slowly, pushed the door open a crack.
"Squeak-"
The old door hinges made a teeth-grinding sound, which was particularly jarring in the quiet environment.
Nami instinctively shrank back behind Zhou Ye, muttering a complaint:
"This door screams like a ghost..."
Zhou Ye ignored Nami's complaints, his sharp gaze fixed on the scene gradually emerging from behind the crack in the door. Saeko also gripped the hilt of her sword tightly, leaning forward slightly, ready to strike at any moment.
Only after Jill confirmed that there was no immediate danger did she fully push the door open.
The scene inside the restaurant was suffocating.
Several zombie corpses lay scattered on the ground, dark brown bloodstains spreading across the carpet and walls, forming gruesome patterns. Scattered shell casings gleamed metallically in the dim light, testifying to the fierce firefight that had taken place there.
Be careful. Just because there was no danger before doesn't mean there isn't now.
Jill gave a low warning, raised her pistol, and slowly stepped into the room.
Zhou Ye and Saeko also went on high alert, while Nami followed closely behind Zhou Ye, trying her best not to look at the disgusting corpses.
They searched the restaurant, lifting tablecloths, examining corners, and rummaging through cabinets, hoping to find something useful, but apart from more bloodstains and bullet casings, there were no valuable clues.
"It seems they haven't found anything here either," Zhou Ye said softly.
Just as everyone was about to give up, a slight noise came from a corner deep inside the restaurant.
Who's there?
Jill immediately raised her gun and aimed it in the direction the sound came from.
In the darkness, a swaying figure slowly walked towards them.
At first, Zhou Ye thought it was an ordinary zombie—until the figure stepped into the light.
It was a girl in a blood-stained white dress, who looked quite young. But above her head, dozens of female faces floated, like a terrifying crown. These faces varied in age and appearance, some beautiful, some distorted, each silently opening and closing its mouth, emitting almost inaudible wails and groans. They writhed and trembled constantly, as if these faces were still alive, trapped in some unimaginable agony.
What the hell!
Nami screamed and hid behind Zhou Ye.
Saeko Busujima immediately drew her long sword and assumed a fighting stance. This was an oni, and a female one at that.
The female ghost's face was as pale as paper, her eyes empty, yet a strange smile lingered on her lips. She slowly tilted her head, staring blankly at the group, her voice sweet yet chilling:
The new face...it looks so good.
Back off!
Zhou Ye shouted, while quickly assessing the current situation. This was his and Nami's first real battle against Oni, and Gilgamesh couldn't hurt her. Saeko Busujima could, but the environment and her burdens limited her.
Jill didn't hesitate and fired a shot, but the bullet only left a shallow dent in the girl's body, which then healed quickly.
They're really not afraid of bullets!
Gil cursed and backed away.
The ghost suddenly flashed, moving with astonishing speed, appearing directly in front of Nami, its pale hand pointing towards her face:
This face... is so beautiful... give me...
"Step back! Get out of the restaurant!"
Zhou Ye acted decisively, grabbing Nami and simultaneously stepping aside to shield Jill.
Saeko Busujima reacted the fastest, her long sword already drawn, standing at the back to cover the three as they retreated from the restaurant.
The female ghost didn't seem to be in a hurry to chase them out of the restaurant. She just stood at the door, tilted her head, and looked them over with her blood-red eyes, her eerie smile growing even more pronounced.
The group retreated to the relatively spacious connecting area of the corridor, where they finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Another one? Is this someone you know? The Valentine girl?"
Nami patted her chest, still shaken.
"Seriously, just how many of these monsters are there in this godforsaken place? Bullets feel like they're just tickling us!"
Jill was also still shaken:
"This is different from the ones I've encountered before... but it's also very resistant to bullets."
Zhou Ye glanced at the unhurried female ghost at the door, then at Saeko Busujima beside him.
Saeko Busujima stepped forward, blocking the crowd, and calmly stared at the female ghost.
"Leave this demon to me, you guys take care of the cover. I'm from the Demon Slayer Corps, we specialize in dealing with demons like this."
Her words were calm, yet carried a reassuring power. As she spoke, the longsword in her hand seemed to come alive, its blade gradually tinged with a translucent azure halo, like flowing water. The air itself seemed to become moist and crisp.
Water Breathing Technique. This was the first time Zhou Ye had ever seen a real-life breathing technique; the special effects were impressive.
The female ghost at the restaurant entrance saw the change in Saeko Busujima's sword and the stance she adopted. A strange light flashed in her eyes, no longer the previous madness, but rather a kind of...greed?
"Demon Slayer Corps...?" Her voice was hoarse and strained, broken into fragments.
"You...have...a beautiful...collection..."
She seemed to have developed an interest in the knife in Saeko Busujima's hand, or rather, in Saeko Busujima herself.
But Saeko Busujima didn't give her a chance to continue speaking.
"Water Breathing..."
Her figure vanished instantly, leaving behind a faint, watery afterimage.
"Second Form - Waterwheel!"
The next moment, Saeko Busujima appeared in front of the female ghost, her body spinning like a wheel. The azure longsword in her hand drew a circular slashing trajectory, carrying a water flow that seemed capable of washing away everything, and slashed towards the female ghost's neck! The movement was fluid and swift, with a chilling beauty.
Saeko Busujima's waterwheel slash was as fast as lightning, and it looked like it was about to strike the female ghost's neck, but at the critical moment, the female ghost's hands suddenly drew out a strange red light!
Blood Demon Art - Vine!
Dozens of thin, blood-red vines shot out from the female ghost's fingertips, twisting and intertwining like living things, instantly weaving into an impenetrable net that blocked her neck!
The sound of metal colliding with foreign objects echoed in the corridor. Saeko Busujima's katana was entangled by the blood-red vines; although she severed several, she couldn't break through all the defenses.
Be careful!
Zhou Ye shouted.
The female ghost grinned menacingly, and more crimson vines sprouted wildly from her back, coiling around Saeko Busujima like venomous snakes!
Saeko Busujima remained unfazed. With a swift turn, her blade flashed, creating a curtain of water that severed the onrushing vines. At the same time, she retreated to create distance.
Is it a ghost that manipulates plants?
She calmly assessed her opponent, a hint of seriousness flashing in her eyes.
The female ghost licked her lips, and the broken vines, under her control, regenerated, winding across the ground like predators ready to launch their next attack.
Human Demon Slayer Corps... It's been so long since I've encountered one...
The female ghost's voice was as piercing as a broken bellows.
You will become my best collectible...
After the female ghost finished speaking, a cunning glint flashed in her eyes, and she suddenly waved her hands forward.
Blood Demon Art: Entanglement!
Before she could finish speaking, the ground suddenly trembled, and countless blood-red vines, like a swarm of snakes summoned by a spell, burst forth from the cracks in the floor, rushing towards Saeko Busujima! The tips of the vines flashed with a sharp red light, leaving marks on the floor wherever they went.
She has a much wider range of control now!
Zhou Ye gave a stern reminder, while pulling Jill and Nami back a few steps.
Saeko Busujima's gaze was calm, her movements as fluid as water, her feet treading seemingly impossible steps as she weaved and dodged through the dense vines. The light of her blade traced blue arcs in the air with her movements, severing the approaching vines.
But the female ghost's attack did not stop. Seeing that her entanglement spell had been dodged, she revealed a twisted smile, clasped her hands together, and then suddenly separated them.
Blood Demon Art: Man-Eating Flower!
Her fingertips unfurled, scattering dozens of blood-red seeds that traced eerie trajectories in the air before landing throughout the corridor. The seeds rapidly expanded and grew upon contact with the ground, transforming in the blink of an eye into over a dozen giant carnivorous plants the size of humans!
These man-eating flowers, their blood-red stems swaying, their blossoms splitting open to reveal foul-smelling mouths full of sharp teeth, emitting a chilling gurgling sound, began to slowly move closer to Saeko Busujima!
The rest of them charged towards Zhou Ye and his two companions.

Chapter 13 Lower Moon Five Rui
What the hell is this thing?! A man-eating flower?
Nami exclaimed in surprise and couldn't help but fire two more shots. The bullets only left shallow dents on the carnivorous plant, and the wounds healed quickly.
Caught between vines and carnivorous plants, Saeko Busujima's space to maneuver was greatly reduced. Fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, but her eyes remained focused, without the slightest panic.
Saeko reacted extremely quickly, drawing her long sword with a flash of light.
puff!puff!
Several of the first vines that attacked were instantly severed, and dark green sap splattered everywhere.
But more vines surged in from all directions, faster and at more treacherous angles. They entwined, tore, and formed a massive, impenetrable green cage.
Saeko's swordplay was gradually suppressed, and her room to maneuver became smaller and smaller.
"Oh no! Busujima-kun is surrounded by carnivorous plants!"
Jill grew anxious. She dropped her empty pistol and quickly drew the Glock that Zhou Ye had given her. But she immediately realized that the pistol was ineffective against such a large area of vegetation, so she drew her M870 shotgun from her waist.
She aimed at the female ghost behind the vine cage, who had cornered them.
"boom!"
