Chapter 124: Enduring Humiliation for Survival
Chapter 124: Enduring Humiliation for Survival
"Miracle Saint Emperor..."
Cleia murmured, repeating these four words. As a key member under the Saint Emperor of Light, she certainly understood their weight. It’s a height even His Majesty the Saint Emperor of Light, the number one person on the Divine Protection Continent, couldn’t reach.
Both Xue’Er and Natasha Smirnoff referred to him this way. Were they deceived, or had her own perceptions truly gone awry?
Originally full of confidence, Cleia now wavered. She knew of a particularly unique small clan among the Demon Race called the Mind-Control Demons, who specialized in manipulating others’ thoughts, immersing them in a fabricated world of illusions.
Others with similar abilities included the Enchanting Demons, but their skills were limited to creating pleasurable illusions. The Divine Protection Continent Alliance had once hosted illusionists too, but the high difficulty of cultivating such skills, their limited lethality, and the crucial inability to control groups below the Saint Tier—all resulted in illusionists being almost entirely forgotten. Their physical forms were as fragile as paper, even at the Saint Tier.
Their advantages were too few, and their drawbacks both numerous and deadly. This had led to almost no one willing to pursue the path of the illusionist, and currently, there were less than a hundred known illusionists on the Divine Protection Continent, with only two or three Saint Tier individuals among them, truly marking the downfall of this path.
Cleia was deeply concerned that Xue’Er had fallen for a trick by a Mind-Control Demon, but given the formidable power Lynn had just displayed, such an explanation made little sense.
Like illusionists, Mind-Control Demons consumed so much mental focus and energy in cultivating illusion techniques that their physical strength couldn’t keep up. Without illusions, both Mind-Control Demons and illusionists might as well be defenseless. Regardless of a potential level gap of even four or five hundred levels, they faced the risk of being slain by someone vastly outranking them.
It’s fair to say that if a Saint Tier Mind-Control Demon appeared, if their soul power was restrained, even someone as notoriously incompetent as Vivian Jones could draw a sword and kill them.
Lynn’s power was terrifying. Effortlessly blocking her lethal attack was as natural as looking at the palm of one’s hand, making it clear he couldn’t be a Mind-Control Demon—unless he was a level 1000 Mind-Control Demon God.
However, like the deities of the Miracle World, Demon Gods can’t cross the Wall of the World, so appearing in the Celestial Destiny Empire was clearly impossible.
Could it be that another Mind-Control Demon associate of Lynn’s exists nearby?
Cleia was shocked. If so, it was even more terrifying, because someone who could elude her sensory powers must be a Demon Race Grand Duke above level 800!
Unfathomable in strength, but surely not below level 800, a supremely powerful demon named Lynn lurking in the shadows, along with an 800-level Mind-Control Demon Grand Duke manipulating everything from the dark...
Oh my goodness! The Celestial Destiny Empire had been infiltrated by the Demon Race to such an extent! Why was the Continent Alliance still bothering to keep a standoff with the Demon Race on the Divine Protection Continent? Their home was being robbed!
Though Cleia’s heart was tumultuous, her calm and aloof demeanor meant outwardly she showed little emotional change, preventing her bold conclusion from being exposed.
"If the Vice Chief Judge still has doubts, have a look at these, perhaps the demonic auras you sensed emanate from them."
Lynn didn’t want to attract the Light Church Court’s attention, so he carefully crafted a cover story for himself.
He retrieved three Demon King Tokens from his spatial ring, each inscribed in demon world script with "Pride," "Greed," and "Gluttony." These tokens emitted such overwhelming demonic qi that they filled those gazing upon them with dread.
As a middle-ranking figure in the Light Church Court, Cleia had some understanding of demon world script. Still, objects at the level of a Demon King Token were rare, even His Majesty the Saint Emperor of Light might not have seen genuine examples. She couldn’t tell if they were authentic.
However, they likely were, because they were just three mere tokens holding no power themselves, yet they conferred a profound sense of oppression, as if merely looking at them could rob her of breath.
"They might be. I must have misunderstood Lord Lynn. I’m truly sorry for interrupting your family gathering," Cleia said hastily, immediately attempting to reconcile, hoping to deceive the terrifying demon before her.
Oh my! Not only did he present Demon King Tokens, but he remained unaffected by their demonic qi. Unless he was of the Demon Race himself or a demigod over level 900!
Although rumors had circulated about Lynn claiming to be a 900-level demigod, they were less credible than her reliable perceptions. She had never misjudged a demon qi presence, so she certainly preferred to trust her innate gift.
More importantly, the demonic aura she sensed outside earlier and those of these three Demon King Tokens were different. That aura distinctly belonged to the Nation of Lust Demons, yet Lynn hadn’t presented a Lust Demon King Token, suggesting he didn’t have one!
If the Lust Demon King Token appeared, he’d be exposed as a Lust Demon from the Nation of Lust Demons!
Just look at the people in this room...
Beautiful human women, a graceful elf, a pretty young female dragon, an adorably cute little girl, even all the cats were female!
Do you dare claim you’re not from the Nation of Lust Demons???
"Wait! Don’t be in such a hurry to leave."
As Cleia prepared to make a swift exit, Lynn suddenly remembered something, stopping her in her tracks.
Ready to bolt, Cleia and Sifrin were startled, standing rigidly as if rooted to the ground.
Rats! Have we been exposed? What if he plans to silence us?
Fighting isn’t an option; we can’t risk our lives. Survival to report to superiors is a must!
Damn, with him watching me so intently, I can’t even take out the Communication Stone. Otherwise, even with more than a month’s delay, I’d still report the situation...
"Lord Lynn, if you feel I’m being insincere, I can stay to drink with you. Sifrin has other matters to attend to; let her leave first."
Cleia steadfastly decided, if necessary, she’d use her charms to stall this Lust Demon and let Sifrin escape—one of them had to make it out, even if it meant sacrificing the other’s innocence and life.
Never having shown favor to men before, she had no experience in seduction, unsure of how to change her icy demeanor to warmth, but she pressed forward regardless.
So, with her words, Cleia awkwardly approached Lynn, saying nothing more as she leaned into his embrace.
Soft warmth surrounded Lynn, yet he merely wished to raise a questioning brow.
What is this? Can’t afford it, so she’s offering herself? Does the Light Judgment Hall play this wild?
"What are you doing? As soon as you hear Lord Lynn’s name, you desperately cling to him? Dream on!"
Before Cleia received a response from Lynn, Natasha’s extremely dissatisfied and angry shout rang out.
What a joke! Competing on the fawning path and being openly snatched in front of her!
